Interview With Jennifer
McGill
Jennifer McGill was on the MMC for all
seven seasons. Viewers literally watched her grow from a child to
a woman. She was the lead vocals for many songs with that strong
voice of hers. She has gone on to perform in many plays and recently
played the part of Suzie in "The Children". She is currently working
on her debut album that is sure to be a hit. I have to say that Jenn was
always one of my favorite mousekateers and that is why when I had the opportunity
to interview her, I jumped on the chance. Thank you Jennifer for
giving me this opportunity and for being kind enough to answer my questions.
| Where are you currently living? |
I am currently living in New York. |
| What's your favorite food? |
My favorite food changes weekly, but
most of my favorites are junk food, like pizza, ice cream, anything pure
chocolate, and the mother of them all: chocolate chip cookie dough! |
| What's your favorite television show? |
My favorite TV show is a tie between
Friends, Frasier, and Buffy |
| Do you have any collections? |
I collect lobster stuff, like
dolls, Christmas ornaments, and figurines. I was "traumatized" as a child
when I found out that lobsters were boiled alive for food, so I started
collecting lobster stuff about 2 years ago and have never eaten lobster! |
| Who is your all time role model? Why
do they hold such a great place in your heart? |
My all time role model is my mother
because she has always supported me and been very patient when my opinions
or life decisions didn't coincide with what she thinks is best for me.
She lets me live and learn, yet is always there for me when I need her. |
| What are your goals as a vocalist? |
My goals as a vocalist are to never
back down from doing the best I can on a project, and to constantly work
on becoming stronger and reaching out to more and more people. |
| I most definitely can't wait for you
to start working on your album for it to be released! I've always thought
you had such an extraordinary voice. What type of music will be on your
debut album? |
On my debut album, I am concentrating
on a pop sound with a bit of an R&B vocal twist. Of course, there will
be some amazing ballads:) |
| Will you have any input on your album?
(You should have Diane Warren write a song for you! It would be the perfect
combination with your awesome voice!) |
I will have input on what goes on my
album, since I'm the one who has to sing the songs! I am currently co-writing
in New York, so hopefully some of those songs will get on the album. Also,
I am friends with David Frank and Steve Kipner (writers/producers of "Genie
In A Bottle"), who would like to contribute to the album. |
| Who would you love to do a duet with? |
I would love to do a duet with JC from
'NSYNC or Brian McKnight. |
|
If you were going to be stranded
on
an island and could bring three people
with you, whom would you bring? |
If I were stranded on a desert island
I would bring my best friends, Angie, Rusty, and Tomas, cuz I think the
four of us would get along great. And if Angie refused to come without
her fiancé, then I'd bring my mother:) |
|
Are you still friends with many
of the MMC 'teers? I know that my friends
have seen you out at a few of Tony Lucca's
concerts in NY. |
I am still friends with a few of the
MMCers, though if I were to run into anyone I haven't talked to in a while,
I'm sure we'd pick up right where we left off. |
| If this is too personal, you don't
have to answer. Do you have a boyfriend right now? |
I do not have a boyfriend right now. |
| Do you have any pet peeves? |
The biggest pet peeve of mine might
be that I hate it when friends make plans with me, then cancel at the last
minute. But I would always forgive them, cuz I'm sure I've done the same
thing many times, too. |
| What are your favorite songs out right
now? |
My fave songs out right now are "Bye
Bye Bye" ('NSYNC), "There You Go"
(Pink), "What A Girl Wants" (Christina), "Takes Me High" (Sonique), and
"Everything You Want" (Vertical Horizon). |
| What is your favorite scent? |
My favorite scent for me is anything
fruity, like pineapple mango. I like cologne on a guy, but don't have a
fave. |
| If you could do an episode of MTV's
"Fanatic" with anyone, who would it be? |
I would probably interview Hal
Sparks on Fanatic! But he's not a musician...he's the host of Talk Soup,
but I love him to death and want to meet him! |
| If you didn't have the opportunity
that MMC gave you, what would you be doing today? |
There weren't many opportunities for
performance in my hometown, so if I hadn't been on MMC, I probably would
still be in Texas, teaching singing lessons or already settled down with
a family. |
|
What do you think of the success
of all the others that were on the show
with you? |
I'm really happy for everyone's success
from the MMC. They all are immensely talented and hard workers. I just
hope I can join them soon. |
| When you first started MMC, did you
think that it would take seven years of your life? |
I never thought MMC would involve 7
years of my life. We figured a few years at most, but I never actually
thought that far ahead. I was just having fun! |
| Do you remember when you got the call
that you had made it on MMC? What were you doing? Who did you tell first?
What was your first reaction? |
When I got the call that I made it
onto MMC, I was playing with my best friend at the time, Peggy Homer. We
were in my bedroom when my mom told us the news. We started jumping up
and down like crazy girls. It was really exciting! |
| Which of your family members are you
the closest to? |
In my family, I am closest to my mother. |
| What is your favorite past time? |
My favorite pastime is either seeing
movies with my friends or taking dance/aerobic classes. (I guess I would
be lying if I didn't also include shopping!) |
| What is one thing about yourself that
you wish you could change? |
Most girls have insecurities about
their bodies, and I am no different. Though I am exercising a lot, if I
had a magic wand that changed one thing about me, I'd just reshape my whole
frame:) |
| Do you have a message to fans? |
My message to fans: I am extremely
blessed to come from a show which brought people like you together and
has kept you together for so many years. Thank you, each and every one,
for your support and for sharing your love for me and MMC with others.
It makes me feel very special to know that there are fans waiting for me
to make it big:) It just makes me work harder for you! Lovies, Jenn |
