Island Escapades Marine Camp
4-10th July, 2004
Starting off from Saltspring Island as usual, we spent two days learning and improving our kayaking skills before heading out from Long Harbour to Prevost Island.  The next day we paddled through an epic near-hour-long crossing to Pender Island, where as Kris (a guide) put it, "we just played pass with two tugboats, three sailboats, two BC ferries, a bunch of motorboats, a seaplane, and a whole frickin' lot of current!"

So we stayed at Beaumont Marine Park on South Pender for a night, and then paddled on to Portland Island, just south of Fulford Harbour on Saltspring, where we stayed for two nights.
The lovely guides: Kris, Aaron, Mikaela, Donetta.
I worked hard for this picture!  Tristin sprayed whipped cream all over herself and then ran away from my camera.
(The best way to be woken up in the morning)
Good morning, Mikaela Sunshine!
Impromptu cricket
Aar ... Saunders be a pirate!
The first pirate ever to wear a life jacket on the high seas!
Tristin very generously carried our port-a-potty on her back deck, just in case one of our campsites had no outhouse.
The Raven and the Duck --
Ah, the joys of rain gear!
Mmm ... rockweed ...
