Branagh in another Hamlet moment? The resemblance of Miguel to Branagh's hot-looking Hamlet has been noted with approval . . . . And it isn't by accident that Branagh's character looks romantic. "I wanted to make a buddy movie for my generation--those who grew up on Star Wars and Indiana Jones," says Eric Bergeron, co director of the animated film about Spaniards seeking the lost city of gold. Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline gave voice to the leads, Miguel and Tulio, and the aimators integrated aspects of the actors' appearances and personalities: Kline is manic; Branagh, romantic. "There are special effects, but timing is more important," says Bergeron, adding "Comedy is timing."
And did they have fun? It's likely, if this interview with the
Cranky Critic is any indication.

El Dorado --
The Trail We Blaze --
Without Question --
According to Elton John, the ballad "Without Question" was originally deleted
from the release and then restored, just like his song "Can You Feel
the Love Tonight" (The Lion King) which won an Oscar. In Elton John's
VH1 Special concert, broadcast from the Fairmont Hotel in San
Francisco, this love song sounded the best of the El Dorado bunch.
The younger set seem to prefer the throbbing El Dorado, however.
"The Making of The Road to El Dorado" was shown as a special on HBO.

Kline and Branagh--without question, Branagh--make El Dorado
worth the trip. Kline is the voice of reason, and Branagh
yearns for adventure--and a place to play his guitar. See it
on a big screen, and enjoy the waterfalls and the voices.
