TOP 10 NEWSMAKERS of 1835 HINMAN HISTORY:

10. The Wildcat Shuffle
A dance made up by Sam Hong in the fall quarter of freshman year.  It entails a lot of growling and claw-making, but very little dancing.

9. Big Momma's House and the dining crew:
We gave nicknames to most of the the 1835 dining crew.  Notable was the popular Steve the stir-fry guy. Then there was Evil, Evil-in-training, Chef Boyardee, Al Roeker, Big Momma, and Big Momma's House.

8.   Drunken Trivial Pursuit
Bobby Nampiaparampil (that's his real name) took it upon himself to be the official question reader during a game of trivial pursuit.  Big mistake.  Bobby was drunk and preceded every  question with "You're never gonna get this!!!"

7. Jalice
When two Asian girls moved into room 234 during sophomore year, the dorm didn't know what to think. Since no one could quite figure out with accuracy which one was Alice and which one was Jackie, we did the right thing -- we combined their names together so we didn't have to remember who was who. It worked

6. Whack-a-Garland
Since hockey sticks and hockey pucks were a common playtoy in the newsroom last year, the co-editors (mostly the Asian one) would take turns nailing next-door neighbor Andy Garland with a hockey puck.  Usually we'd aim at the head.  Usually, we'd miss, but it was usually funny.

5. Mafia

Many Hinmanites didn't know exactly how to play this game when the year started.  The only exposure any of us had to it was when a group of AACMers came in packs of 300 one Friday night to play in Jalice's lounge.  It changed everyone's life -- forever.

4. Banana War
Adam Sedrowski + Mike McCormick + bananas = funny.

3. Seedro returns to Evanston
Adam Sedrowski, who enjoyed his freshman year at NU, left us to go to the University of Michigan.  Then he came back to us because not enough people "understood his needs" in Ann Arbor -- not like Sam Hong did, anyway.

2. 2nd vs. 4th floor

When the snow got heavy, the 4th floor decided to team up on the overmatched 2nd floor and bombard the 2nd floor with snowballs.  The 2nd floor fought back one night as Matt Cozza and others broke out onto the middle roof (access from only the 2nd floor) and began assaulting 4th-floor kids outside the main entrance as they pelted a decoy (Sam Hong) at the far window.

1. Tie: The Eugene Incident, The Jeff-Kat "Thrilla in Manilla", The "Fat Chick" Incident
To save face for those involved, let's just say all three of these incidents involved improper things being done at improper times with proper heckling afterwards.
