| EVANSTON, Ill. (AP)__ Last night, with hours to go before polls officially opened for all voters, Newton Li and campaign manager Stanley Wong invaded Andrew Kim's home dormitory to make a symbolic stand. The pair dined at 1835 Hinman and took pictures with various dining hall staff, including Tyrone (the card swiper) and .Carlisse (the dining hall manager). Kim was in transit from O'Hare airport back to campus at the time of the dinner. The move is considered a huge slap in the face for Andrew Kim, who frequently dines at Hinman. The Daily1835's original readership also has strong ties with the dining hall. Most of the original readers have lived at Hinman for at least a year. Whether or not this highly publicized campaign event has paid off in votes is yet to be seen. Afterwards, Li and Wong went to David Hsu's "surprise" birthday party to do some more campaigning. Li also got a haircut right before the campaign dinner and according to local source, he looked "very nice". |
