David left the show after Dallas. He was replaced by Donny Osmond. The show went to several different cities before opening on Broadway. The critics were as harsh on Donny as they were on David. The show closed after only one performance on Broadway.
Another interesting note is that David later replaced Andy Gibb in the then struggling production of "Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on Broadway in 1983. The play became a hit with David with many sell out performances. Some years later, Donny Osmond came to Broadway in the new production of "Joseph" and it was a hit again.
