DAVID CASSIDY & SHEENA EASTON IN

AT THE COPA

Above is a flyer for Copa

Although David enjoyed EFX, it was taking a toll on his body, having injured his knee and back. The MGM replaced him with Rick Springfield and EFX closed after Rick's two year contract was over.

After appearing in EFX in Las Vegas, David decided to create a show of his own. He hired successful singer Sheena Easton to co-star with him at the Rio Hotel. David also took a few talented performers from EFX.

However, The Rio did not pay for as many advertisements or promotions as The MGM did for EFX. David and Sheena were on a few shows but I never heard or saw the same kind of ads as for EFX.

The show was suppose to be set in the 40's and then moved on to the 70's. However, it was never really clear about thet time change. Therefore, it seemed strange to some when after seeing the cast all dressed in 40's style clothes and in a Vegas lounge, David would appear with guitar in hand and sing some Partridge Family numbers.

Of course, old PF fans loved it. Especially when David went out into the audience to shake hands with fans while singing "I Think I Love You." However, to many non-fans, it made no sense plot-wise. To his credit, David did perform some really incredible songs such as Johnny Ray's "CRY" and Otis Redding's "TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS," which always brought the house down. I had heard many non-DC fans mention what a fabulous singer David was after hearing him do these numbers.

There were some very nice buttons and adorable t-shirts availble for fans to purchase. Although many of the tops ran on the small side. I'm very short, being only 5 feet tall. I used to be very petite and when I was only 110 lbs., I had to get a size large to fit me. It's like some of the clothes were made for childern, who would not even be interested in David Cassidy or a show like this.

The show did improve over time. Some really funny things were added, some slow spots taken out. However, in the end it was not a huge success. David closed the show and went on tour. Due to his contract with The Rio, his first concert dates were at all at Harrah's Casinos. Since that time, David has toured in many places around the world.
