MY SPIRIT
by Mark Baraibar 4/20/06
Sometimes I write when I’m down
And my spirit flys away.
I guess it cleanses itself in a happier place.
Then it comes back and shakes my hand,
As if to acknowledge my pain and understand.
So I ask my spirit to come inside
And show me the way to a better light.
Where there is some pain and too much pride,
My spirit reminds me to brush that aside
And my spirit frees me from some of the anger
And takes me back to when I was a teenager.
And my smile comes back
And lights up the room,
I remember the Humpty Dance and 2 Live Crew.
Today is the future, every second goes by
Who says time travel isn’t real?
I just saw ten seconds go by.
Next time my spirit decides to fly,
I’m going to let out a laugh, a scream, or damn good cry.
A spirit cleansing, there’s nothing like it
Atleast that’s what my spirit says and I advise it.
So take a deep breath and close your eyes,
And let your spirit rise.
