Arthur Dahl is a retired Deputy Assistant Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He is now a consultant to UNEP and other international organizations on indicators of sustainability, environmental assessment and observing strategies, coral reefs, biodiversity, islands, environmental education, and social and economic development. A specialist on coral reefs and small island developing States (SIDS), he spent many years in the South Pacific and organized the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme. He lectures widely, and has published many scientific papers and books including: "Island Directory", "Unless and Until: A Baha'i Focus on the Environment" and "The Eco Principle: Ecology and Economics in Symbiosis".
