I was a rock,
Sat in the sun,
And tumbled down the stream.
I was a cloud,
Laid in the sky,
And floated through a dream.
I was a tree,
Stood in the dell,
And rooted to the earth.
I was a doe,
Ran in the field,
And frolicked in my mirth.
I was a brook,
Flowed in the hills,
And wound around the town.
I was a man,
Smiled at my desk,
And tore all of it down.
