Unlike most sports teams in the US, the rugby season is essentially divided into two halves. The first half, fall, is the league schedule followed by a small regional seating tournament. The second half, spring, is for all the accolades. Two out of three spring seasons the Pearl City Black Bears have won their divisional national championships. Last year was the only  year of the three in which the team had not succeeded in making it to the national championship game.
The break between the fall and spring seasons is nice for family holidays and for healing injuries, but requires that players get motivated early in the year to get back into shape as teams from other regions of the US will be in mid season form as we get started. It was during this time that we held our annual banquet. Remember and congratulating players for the recent fall and the previous spring. The recipients of this years awards are:

On Pitch MVP: Ben McGee
- “The wet noodle” (Diamo) is everywhere giving people the business. Ben really helped the team this year by organizing the defense and making some hard charging runs. The wet noodle is back for round 2.
