Text Box: The 2007 year was a highly successful one that saw the Pearl City Rugby club place 5th in the USA in spring Division 1 playoff action. A highly exciting quarterfinal match with eventual champions, Hayward Griffins, hailing from the East Bay of San Francisco, saw the Black Bears go down 15-17 in overtime. The Black Bears played a great game and had a chance to win it with a penalty kick in the closing minutes but a wide left attempt ended the club's 2 year winning streak in playoff rugby.       The positive feeling the boys had after their spring experience led to a strong fall campaign. The boys went undefeated in fall Midwest league play and beat both the Chicago Lions and Chicago Griffins Super League teams. The Midwest final saw the Black Bears demolish former D2 rivals Chicago South Side Irish 63-0. This means that we'll be hosting the #4 seed from the south this coming spring. A win in that game books us another ticket to the national sweet 16. I think I speak for everyone when I saw the goal is to win it all this spring. Super League here we come! Club Banquet Price per plate: Prime Rib: $32, Pecan crusted chicken: $25, Fish: $27 Includes: Potatoes, seasonal medley veggies, dinner rolls, cheesecake. Awards: Rookie of the year, most improved, on-field mvp, off-field mvp, pumas mvp, sportsmanship award, Darwin award. Dinner info back to Roy by February 23rd!!
