PRISONS

Here are a few pictures of some prisons in Ontario Canada. Its interesting how a lot of these places have nicknames. I got more interested in prisons ever since my friend got a job as a corrections officer.

COLLINS BAY

This prison is located in Kingston Ontario. It is known as "Disneyland" because the front of the prison looks like something you might see in Disneyland. But it isn't Disneyland in there. It's a medium high security prison, most of the population are murderers.

KINGSTON PENITENARY

This is the big bad prison in Ontario. Its called Kingston Penitentary known as "KP". Nobody wants to work here because it is very violent. Full of the worst offenders in Canada including the infamous Scarborough Rapist Paul Bernardo (inset right). I still remember when he was on the loose in Canada, the police screwed up this investigation and could have stopped Bernardo earlier. I've met relatives of one of the victims. I actually got a chance to walk around this prison, it looks very cold and I saw the building where Bernardo is. They also have cannibals like Hannibal Lector in a special handling unit. One interesting thing about this prison is that it was the prison used in the film "Superman" where Christopher Reeves brings Gene Hackman to prison. If you take a look at the prison picture, the picture was taken from a walkway across the road. Just behind there is a prison museum. I'm not big into museums but this one was interesting. It had old torture devices they used to use in the 1800's, a variety of confiscated shanks, they have 2 cells of what the cells looked like in the 1800's and what it looks like today. Also across the road is the womens prison where Bernardo's wife was held until it shut down some years ago.

Here is a link to another site on canadian prisons which includes video of the inside of some of them. I think that Canadian prisons are known to be better than mostly any other country including U.S. Except for maybe KP. click here
