| Back to The Classes of Skure | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The dragon is absolutely and undeniably the strongest of the beasts of Skure. It is an extremely rare animal and grew to be very diverse throughout its evolution. Nobody knows quite how dragons evolved. Theories from many of the scholars of the once proud Kingdom of Hassen pointed to Nexus. Their theory was that Nexus blessed a select few reptilian creatures that were large enough to have an impact on the planet. These reptilians were appointed as guards of a sort to ensure that the planet would continue to thrive even if Nexus was somehow damaged. They then bred and spread out very, very slowly as independent creatures. Now that Nexus is little more than several million fragments in various form, dragons have risen from the depths of the mountains, oceans, firepits, marshes, any virtually any other landform to (according to the Hassites) fulfill their destiny that Nexus set out. There are indeed evil dragons, corrupted (again, according to the Hassites) by The Hunting Grounds that reigned terror across Darlow for hundreds of years. Most are either neutral or of good nature. In any case, dragons have joined the ranks, albeit it in few numbers (for every 40 humans, there is 1 dragon in the army of The Followers). Nevertheless, dragons combine every aspect that a fighting warrior could. They are intelligent, social, and very powerful. Skure has yet to see their full potential. Note: When referring to leadership with respect to dragons, it does not refer to their ability to lead large squadrons or armies. Leadership, here, refers to the ability take the front lines in battle, to take and receive the first hit. Keep this in mind when reading the descriptions below. The kind of leadership that involves "charisma" is often left to the humans --Followers and Minions. Summary of all dragon statistics: dragons are statistically superior in endurance and offense and have great defense. While a little bit on the slow side in reflexes, dragons have good movement. They all have their own speciality which is listed in each class description. All have dragon-form (obviously), which gives them resistance to all spells, ailments and curses. This resistance increases as they grow. The single immutable drawback to every dragon that makes the class seem somewhat down to earth again is the rate of progression. Dragons often live well over ten millenia and their growth is a staggeringly slow pace. They progress much, much slower than every other class in Skure. This can be very difficult in the middle course of their lives, especially when all of their allies move way ahead of them. In the end, though, dragons are certainly the most powerful of all. It simply takes a long, long time to reach that point. |

| Green Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| There is no creature larger than the fully grown green dragon. Even as newborns (level 1) they are larger than horses and very strong. Although the green dragon is wingless, it is certainly no less intelligent than any of the others, perhaps even a little more so. With a huge maw and a magnificent set of teeth to go with its trademark forest green scales it is a feared monster, although very rarely spotted. Green dragons are sometimas mistaken as the once bountiful species of tyrannosaur that prowled about the plains of central Skure. Clearly these are not dinosaurs, for their arms and claws are very identifable (and very large, unlike upright dinosaurs). Their arms are somtimes mistaken for wings since some green dragons do have wing-like features attached to them They are much more powerful. Green dragons usually walk on all fours but can sit up on their rear legs when stationary. The green dragon has the highest endurance and attack in Skure, save for perhaps the Taro. Green dragons are very aggressive when they are called into battle. Their large size actually allows them to, upon a critical hit, have the possibility of consuming their attacker, destroying them instantly. Socially, green dragons are very well respected simply because of their enormous size when they are fully grown (50 feet high, 60 feet long). Green dragons of good nature are benevolent and eager to assist in doing good for the better of Darlow. Evil green dragons are cruel, torturous creatures. The neutral ones are sure to make their presence known, and little more. Little more is needed; they have a very wide reputation |

| Brown Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Brown dragons are green dragons with brown scales and enormous wings, almost bat-like, but very scaly. A little smaller than their grounded cousins, brown dragons are feared more because of their endless mobility. They have smaller mouths, larger eyes, and much longer necks. They are certainly more slender. The decrease in mouth-size (although retaining the stunning set of teeth) denies them the ability to consume their opponents upon a successful critical. Their flying makes up for this, also giving them resistance to earth, but weakness to air. They also trade off some endurance because of their more slender build. Brown dragons can also be of any alignment and tend to be of similar nature. They are huge, aggressive in battle, calm when approached diplomatically. They are also quite intelligent and very difficult to find. |

| White Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Dragons blessed in their initial development by Nexus (as goes the Hassite theory) many eons ago have become tainted with white scales and a bright appearance. White dragons are the epitome of good in Darlow and all things related. They are just creatures, kind and giving, strong of heart. All of The Followers look up to them as idols of a sort, for their immense size and beauty, both in thought and actual physical appearance, is amazing to behold. White dragons begin their lives about as big as horses. They have very, very slender features all around: arms, neck, tail, even their body. They emit a breath of pure light that can be devastating to those who fear it, namely the creatures of the dark. This undying loyalty to the light and to Nexus makes them weak to the dark, however. As has been already mentioned, white dragons are social superiors, although their humility and kindness prevent them from openly showing a large amount of appreciation. They are dedicated to duty, to spread good. Naturally, they are always of good alignment. |

| Black Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It is the black dragon's very existence that strikes a blow against the theory of the Hassites. Black dragons, apparently, are blessed by Voleron, through and through. Evil, cruel, and dangerous, they arrive mostly from the very far depths of The Pits of Pain. Not only are they feared by The Followers, even The Minions give them an extra special amount of respect. They appear much more dense than white dragons, almost rugged. Their physique is most similar to the mighty brown dragons. In addition to their black scaly skin, black dragons have a darkness about them that swims around the air. They have deep red, angry eyes and emit a foul breath that can be described only as pure death. Statistically they are virtually identical to their lawful counterparts, resisting dark instead of light, of which they are weak, accordingly. These monsters are the social superiors of the underworld. In their youth, black dragons stand at the front lines of the army of The Minions, to battle to the death. In their old age, they are magnificent leaders and arguably the most powerful of The Minion forces. |

| Red Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| These are the classic dragons of myth, those of the red skin. Red dragons are almost exactly like brown dragons in appearance, wings and all (except that their wings do not allow red dragons to fly until they grow; also, some young red dragons do not have any wings to boast of), with the exception of a deep, dark red set of scales and spikes that jut out from their head and upper body, not to mention their enormous tail. Red dragons have a very notable sense of greed, but in Skure this trait is controlled by those of good and neutral natures. Their affiation for extreme heat has bestowed a gift upon red dragons that combined with their evolution - the most powerful breath in Skure, fire. The strength of the red dragon's breath is unmatched, making them great leaders when a battle ensues. It should be noted that red dragons have a slightly different appearance and social outlook based on their alignment, which they can be all three: good, neutral, and evil. Evil red dragons have slightly darker features. Their eyes glow a deeper, darker red, and appear most definitely more sinister. The breath of the evil red dragon is darker with black smoke. They are very distuingishable from the good red dragons, which have brighter red features, almost orange. They have a much kinder outlook on life, and readily join The Followers as they see fit. Until evolution turns the tide, red dragons will remain a force with which to side. |

| Blue Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| From the highest cliffs of the polar south and the ice-sheets of the once ravaging Death Mountains, blue dragons are the rarest of all the dragons simply because Darlow does not harbour many regions that have low temperatures; blue dragons are on the verge of extinction. There is little to say of them that stand apart from the red dragon other than that they are opposites. They differ a fair bit in appearance, having many spikes protruding throughout their body. They are also more slender. The blue of their skin is crystal-like, very pale. Blue dragons can be of any alignment, although evil ones are extremely rare because The Minions have an affection for heat (The Pits of Pain are a horridly hot place). Any player wishing to play an evil blue dragon will have to consult with their GM before creating such a character. |

| Thunder Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Noble and high-flying, the thunder dragon is truly a sight to behold. More common because of the violent weather that now plagues Darlow, thunder dragons have been known to be quite unpredictable. The origin of their powers to harness lightning has baffled scholars of all the former kingdoms. Thunder dragons are, to be frank, the "smallest" of all the dragons, although this description really has no meaning, considering their size in comparison to all of the other creatures on the planet. Thunder dragons are a light bluish-violet colour, more blue towards their tail (which is very long and course) and more violet towards their head, and often just a light green in colour. They have medium-sized necks, huge wings, second in size only to the air dragon, and small claws. Thunder dragons have long mouths, almost wolf-like. Their ability to direct electricity gives them resistance to such a force. In turn, they are weak to water, as lightning and water do not mix in a very comfortable circumstance. Thunder dragons can be of any alignment; there is no visible difference in physical appearance between those that are of good nature and those of evil. Because of the wide angle of their breath and the ability to fly to unseen heights, thunder dragons make better middle or even rear assault units. It should be noted that thunder dragons are noticably more quiet than any of the other dragons. The reason for this lies only within them. |

| Air Dragon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A more common sight (which is still rare compared to any other) is the flight of the enormous air dragon, one of the largest dragons of Skure, third perhaps to the green and brown. Air dragons are a yellowish-tanned colour with the biggest wings of any of the dragons, so large that it folds over just about their entire slim, sleek bodies. They are, without a doubt, an amazing piece of Darlow's evolution. Air dragons have a breath that is little more than a very, very powerful wind, almost hurricane-force in strength. They are the only elemental dragon that does not have a weakness. They are strong against their own element, air, despite the fact that they spend more time off the ground than upon it. Air dragons can also be of any alignment, with no substantial differences in appearance between those good and evil. Much like thunder dragons, which they often communicate with, air dragons prefer a more passive stance in battle than that of the direct front. |
