ROLE OF SAC AND COUNSELOR
Assist with in-service training for students, parents and staff concerning substance issues, violence issues and other teen concerns
Serve as a resource for curriculum development
Assist in developing and implementing
substance abuse policies and
procedures.
Develop intervention services and
counseling services for students
regarding abuse problems.
Identify and set up counseling programs
for -at risk- students.
When necessary and appropriate,
cooperate with juvenile officers in the
rendering of help for our students.
Set up and coordinate peer mediation and conflict resolution group.
P.E.A.R.L.S
Set up and coordinate Parish RAINBOWS Program. A K-8 program
for children who are grieving a loss in their lives.
Implement at Sophomore Suicide Awareness Program.
To be available to students and parents as much as possible.
To interview each student and discuss
with then their academic record,
extracurricular activities and personal issues.
To help students who need extra help in academics and make them aware of
resources available to them.
Work with Mrs. Marotta on the self esteem program for freshman.
Attend workshops throughout the year on education, testing, careers and topics
pertinent to teenagers such as, teen pressures, violence, drugs and alcohol,
gang issues, ect.
Help in administration of SAT's for the entire student body.
To discuss the multicultural diversity existing in school and share ethnic
values and traditions in order to encourage acceptance and bonding in
school.
To assist Seniors with the college application process,
scholarships,
financial aid, SAT's, essay as well as their academic and personal concerns
throughout their Senior year.
Coordinate and facilitate AP Exams for Seniors.
