Skegness - 2002
The second ever stopover didn't get the smoothest of starts. Stu pulled out within hours of setting off and subsequently has (and will not) be on another crawl.
However Gav, Scotty and Daggers continued onwards and on a beautiful weekend in the middle of July2002, Skegness was to be the drinking destination..........
Welcome to Skegness!!
The Day
First port of call, as always is to find our digs. After circling Skegness for about 30 mins we came across a B & B which looked more like a normal house. The snag was however, we all had to share a room with one bed! Nice!
Scotty found the weekend something of a rollercoaster, really!
(You're sacked Gav!)
Seth mixing with the locals!
.............and it was!
The Night
Next!
Gav and Dags, living life to the max!
Do not approach this man. I repeat do not approach this man. After one Babycham he is highly dangerous!
Scotty was the inventor of the treasure hunt, Gav was the inventor of the Olympics and combing the two gav the three of us the entertainment (not including the beer!) for the weekend. After a pint to christen the day, we set off in the search of tacky postcards, touching animals (don't ask), ornaments aswell as visting the fair, having a penalty shootout and playing in the arcades. The prize that was supposed to be at stake for it all was a crate of beer. Day one of the Skeggy games was complete and it was back to our abode for the main event - The Night Out.
Slightly tanned after a scorching day, the three degrees embarked on our crawl. Ironically, it was Stu who had picked the destination of Skegness for our second stopover following our weekend at Newark the year before. During the day we had walked on the front and tried to put together a route for our crawl. Despite being in rough boozers and on rough crawls previous, we didn't like the look of alot of the pubs on the seafront. We went on the road parallel to the front instead and it worked out to be the right choice. The first was a locals boozer but tooked away next was a Wetherspoon's. The beginning of the night had a steady start this was pushed on slightly by the best pub in Skegness and one of the better ones we have been in: Shades.

The pub itself wasn't  glamourous but it stands out due to it's 1950's/rockabilly feel and interior and is a must visit for the biker's in the area. Despite it being our forth pub we wouldn't have minded stopping there! Chaplin's later on also deserves a mention with it's relatively friendly atmosphere and decor of Charlie Chaplin photos. The rest of the night however flattered to deceive......................

" 'ere, Princess, are you messing with our gnome?"
Scotty and Gav politely refuse Daggers' offer of a lift back to Bradford!
