Restoration of a 1947 Luscombe 8A ragwing. Began Fall of 05

Here is the where Luscombe was acquired by a friend from whom I purchased it, at an auction of many hopeful projects.

Looking down the Fuse...mud-dauber nests and all! but not a spec of corrosion.

Rebuilding the horizontal stabilizer. And a new rudder and Vertical Stab, one new aileron and one old.

Right wing with new fabric and UV coat. and next both wings painted

Above are a couple of before and after pics of the Interior

Here is the Fuselage stuck away in the hangar, epoxy-primed and awaiting color coat.
This has been progress up thru the middle of June, 06. I have acquired an engine and a prop just last week. An Continental A-65-8 and a wood Seinseich prop.
UPDATE nov 06
Well, here we are in the fall of 06. It has been a year since I started this rebuild and as usual I am not as far along as I planned. Lots of other projects this summer to distract me from working on the 8A..but, nevertheless, here is the way it looks now...final paint on, wings and empennage already over at the hangar awaiting the fuselage for final assembly.
AS you can see, the Silvaire "Diamond S" is not exactly like the original, which I always thought looked kinda cheesy..hence the old sarcasm about the "Luscombe Z". So, I picked a more stylish "Diamond S"
