I take NO RESPONSIBILITY for what you do with my icons. They are simple icon files, so you should have no trouble, but I will not be held accountable if you manage to screw something up. These instructions are for Windows XP Professional, and should also work for Home Edition. For other operating systems, try searching Google. Before using these icons, make sure you're in 32bit color mode1. Right click on an empty spot on your desktop and select "Properties." 2. Select the "Settings" tab. 3. Make sure the "Color Quality" drop down box is set to "Highest (32 bit)". If you don't have this option, chances are you have a terrible video card. :P You can still use the icons, but they will probably look terrible. To use these icons for shortcuts to programs, links, etc 1. Right click on the icon you want to change and select "Properties." 2. Make sure the "Shortcut" tab is selected. 3. Press the "Change Icon..." button. 4. Press "Browse" and find the directory where you unzipped the icons. 5. If you downloaded individual .ICO files, pick the one you want to use. If you downloaded an .ICL, you'll have to set "Files of Type" to "All Files" in order to see and select the .ICL. 6. You'll see the icon you chose, or all of the icons if you used the .ICL. Pick the one you want and hit OK. Your icon should be set. You can keep hitting OK on the different windows until you return to your desktop. To use these icons as your My Computer, My Documents, My Network Places, or Recycle Bin Icons 1. Right click on an empty spot on your desktop and select "Properties." 2. Select the "Desktop" tab. 3. Press the "Customize Desktop..." button. 4. Select the icon you want to change and press the "Change Icon..." button. 5. Press "Browse" and find the directory where you unzipped the icons. 6. If you downloaded individual .ICO files, pick the one you want to use. If you downloaded an .ICL, you'll have to set "Files of Type" to "All Files" in order to see and select the .ICL. 7. You'll see the icon you chose, or all of the icons if you used the .ICL. Pick the one you want and hit OK. Your icon should be set. You can keep hitting OK on the different windows until you return to your desktop. |
