Old News <Feb 2006 to Dec 2006>

  12/19/2006

Turns out, since a while back, that I mispelled my email address deadheadap9 for the project releases (big whoops).  This has been corrected.  Oh, and by the way - testers are wanted.

  12/10/2006

Version 0.2.2  has arrived.  This package doesn't offer the source code -- you need to go to the sourceforge.net site from now on.  As soon as portability is confirmed, the version will be bumped to 0.3 (lowered expectations).  MyCSeries 0.2.4 is now available.

The Pfhorums site just had to be "upgraded" today...

If Insomniac Games/SCEA can keep up the good work, Resistance: Fall of Man  is sure to be a winner.

  12/2/2006

Version 0.2.1  is here, fixing the isqrt bugs.  Gameplay has been improved as well.  The next release is expected to be version 0.3 (if I can make all the changes necessary).

  11/25/2006

Turns out my isqrt functions sometimes gave +1 error.  That has been fixed for MyCSeries version 0.2.3.

  11/21/2006

Version 0.2 has been updated (and the update was completely necessary).

Sha Bang!:

Samsung has reportedly developed the world's thinest LCD panel.
The Wii  completely sells out in North America, as not enough of the console was ordered/manufactured.
Not just a firestorm over the draft, but drafts over my ass - supporters of free Linux are preparing to counter Microsoft's deal with Novell IncLet go of my- GPL must not be changed for profit!
If O.J. had any brains left.
Despite efforts and awareness campains, the spread of HIV/AIDS is still getting worse every minute.
Not suprisingly, a "Bruno" movie has much less potential for an audience than Borat.  Sacha needs to make some new characters.

  11/19/2006

Sunday isn't exactly within the week... but here is version 0.2 of od28-6.  Keep in mind that this is kind of an early release, because I was just recently trying to fix the problem with the player not being able to grab far items when running M1 maps - this is because the original Marathon handled grabbing items differently - and I may have actually made this problem worse, as a result, in changing a runtime value for when an M1 map is being played.  But the big news about this release is that you can directly import M1 shapes with the MPW tools I put together; not to mention that this is a FAT build!

Weakly Noose:

Sony's successes (state of the art tech) stomps out it's failures (glitches that prevent certain discs from previous consoles from running correctly, and runs only at 720p for HDTVs).  And thats if you call people camping outside the stores for hours prior to opening a success.

  11/13/2006

Days after releasing the 0.1.9 package on SourceForge, I released "release notes" on bugs and how to fix them, etc.  Version 0.2 already has these bugs fixed, and it should be released within the week, I hope.  Updated MyCSeries.

  11/5/2006

v0.1.9 is here.  Turns out the bug that was responsible for affecting consistency was really small, and really, really stupid - two incorrect characters, in the process enabling of animated media textures, made spurious calls to random().  And that's not the only bug that was fixed.  Support for Win95-based scenario images has also been added.  This package also carries a tribute to Infinity's 10th birthday.  Enjoy.

And, no, the shapes file was not at fault (which also means I will be releasing a shapes file on SourceForge).

News o' d'week:

PS3  shocks and awes.  For what it's worth, it sells.
Zune kicks off while kicking it's own ass.
Peter Jackson has a hard time getting a studio to fund the movie version of Halo.  He, and Microsoft, have agreed to postpone production.
Microsoft... Linux?  Yes, it looks like Vista's core is Linux.  - And I thought Linux was free!

  10/29/2006

v0.1.8 is... not updated- dammit!  Nothing of it on the Zip disk, and I should have remembered to check.  The same does not go for MyCSeries, but who cares anymore.  So much for 0.1.8d2. And I'm having trouble going further since (I would have released 0.1.9 if it hadn't been for quality/backward-compatibility control) because when I fix bugs that involve moving global memory around, other bugs ruin film playback (and 256 colors mode). According to the Infinity Demo, it is the shapes file that is doing much of the inconsistency in film playback (especially in net replays... yuckk).  Now to test this theory...

Oh, and happy 10th aniversary of Marathon: Infinity!

I finnalies gots me a new moniktor.  Everythingk elsk ise inferior.

  10/18/2006

Now, what was technical hell is now just financial hell.  The cost of the new monitor is now the leading obstacle - however cheap it may be because of feuding mentalities (the source of the money does not agree with me because they do not get the picture I am presenting)... or it may be my lack of legitimacy in existing.  Anyway, it will not be long before I get crackin' on getting a FAT binary source of od28-6 out.

Okey, da noose:

Miami Vice  for the PSP is pointless, and unnecessary  -- oh, wait, that is not uncommon for games made after movies (or the other way around).
PS3's  failure seems due to overlooking functionality, not cost.
Google's projected lifespan sways, again, as it tries to either merge with anything applicable in media search or, in other words, outbid  the competition.
Bono sponsors a Red iPod for HIV/AIDS awareness.

  10/6/2006

v0.1.8 is here.  Well, not in the form I would have wanted it to be; this is part of a backup plan, since this release would have been compiled for PPC as well -- the monitor is now completely dead and I can't do squat for the weekend because of another holiday.

F.E.A.R.  is redefining FPS.  Check it out or get trampled on by the masses - or get trampled on by joining... I don't know!

  9/17/2006

No, it appears that everything is fine except the stupid switch on the monitor.  The push in on/off switch is soooo busted that it now acts like a push button (you have to frickin' hold it in for power).  The life on the thing has made it hard to see the projected image as well.  The darker it gets, the more difficult it is to test the final version of 0.1.7.
Well, here it is.  Again, version 0.1.x is still Mac68K, and this release will only compile with Symantec C 7.0.5.  Version 0.2 is currently unstable (crash happy), but will be released eventually... anyway.
I had to remove some older stuff (sorry) to get enough (literal) free space on this GeoCities web site.  And it will be longer before SourceForge updates it's documentation so I can finally get some hint on getting the first File Release up.

In Other Gaming-related News:

Bomberman: Act Zero really doesn't need the stupid backstory.  Or much of any backstory at all.  I think I'll take the "Zero" for zero thought in trying to update the series.
The Godfather for the 360 actually doesn't look half bad.

Badder news: the video card in the computer may be busted.

Gaming-related News:

Cobalt Oxide, shards of metal grouping -- it seems that no one can explain the major problem that Sony has with it's shorting Li-ion batteries.

Good news: the monitor finally died, and I can move on...
Bad news: ... that is the bad news!  Now I can't do a f**kin' thing.  What's worse is the PC is busted (cornfield ants).  A long waiting period is ahead...

In not so pathetic news:

E3 has passed (or ees still goingk?) and the Wii is lookin' like the new deal... maybe.
Prey is definitely something to check out.
I hope Halo 3 is more advanced than the previous versions (otherwise it would be pointless to continue dishing out more of the same thing).  If Bungie would'a had a Mac/PC version, this could'a been as simple as releasing new maps, but there isn't much in releasing hardware extensions for nothing more than software extensions -- and vice-versa.

In non-videogaming news:

A tough match between Agassi and Baghdatis puts the experience into the record books.  At nearly four hours in length, and a lot of pain, Andre outlasted, finishing closely in the fifth set at (6-4 6-4 3-6 5-7 7-5).

  7/27/2006

Okay.  MyCSeries version 0.1.15.
I've updated the older source [of od28-6] to the point that it is better than what was to be version 0.2.  Now, all I need to do is tie up all of the loose ends so that I won't have this problem of two zero bytes being written to absolute address zero (and multi-player games hardly work).  Consistency in Infinity films is now at around half a minute (and that's an improvement).

  6/30/2006

Just to show that my project has not been trashed, I will soon release an even older version of the source code (the only source that actually works!).  It will be updated just enough...

Post of dunnnng.
More cock-and-bull stories and the industry is hot.  The price of LCD has gone down less than $600 for a 27" HD-ready television, and the speed of the modern computer has quadrupled (CPU speed nearing 4GHz and the frontside Bus going over 1GHz).... I still can't afford jack.  I need to replace the old (and still dying) CRT monitor that is ruining my eyes.

As far as gaming news, I'm not touching that stupid Da Vinci Code game.  Why are the makers continuing the franchise? Uhhh... could it be.... money?!
The stupid mailing list I started on for the SourceForge project is up, running and [it] has been tested.  Still, there is no reason for me not to remove the od28-6 project.

  5/30/2006

After over a month of despair, a new installment has arrived.  MyCSeries version 0.1.14.  Now in archived in ZIP (StuffIt doesn't seem to let you exclude the unnecessary Finder Info for text files).  The potential is there... it's just that no one really wants to bring the good out of me -- so there :) .

As far as Marathon news, it looks like Squadron is taking off and the genre is becoming more noticed.

  4/12/2006

Well, panicking over the deadline I set didn't help.  Despite my lack of hope in a lot of things, I've gotten several source files to compile.  I can bet that no one will respond to anything I do, now, even though I am being serious.  I should appreciate more in life, but everybody else couldn't care less about me.  Ego comes first in the real world... and I am a pathetic loos- quitter, I am a quitter, not a looser.

Okay... the news.

  3/19/2006

Because some of the new stuff in od28-6 didn't work out, it's going to take a little longer before I can get an adequate development version.  I should  have it up by April.
Oh, and the anniversary was actually on the 11th (my mistake).

Even though Grand Theft Auto sort'a ripped off the theme of it, Godfather, the video game is not looking all that promising at rendering quality.
"Bully"  game stirring up schools (March 13).

  3/13/2006

As the 2nd anniversary of Old Durandal comes in just a few days, I will upload the full source code as a file release on SourceForge as soon as I can get it to fully compile (I don't know how long it will take).  od28-6 will break a boundary in nowhere but I am more confident now of something... I don't know.  The project is starting to turn into something else...

The cseries library I have been working on for od28-6 and newer projects I am working on has been uploaded again (updated regularly).  It has been renamed MyCSeries for a number of reasons.  Currently at version 0.1.13, some of the text glyph rendering code has been implemented and compiled - however, none has been tested, and it is not yet expected to work).  Once it is working properly, the version number will be bumped up to 0.2.

  2/8/2006

I've kept this page simplistic and consistent in format for years for consistency- and well, I don't have the time or money to update it as often as I would have wanted -- plus not getting as much sleep as I needed.

Bad impressions have turned some people away.  Crappy formatting has given crappy results, and I have to make up for that.

Yes, I admit that I was stupid and immature a couple years ago when I started this free Geocities loose member website (I wasn't even old enough to vote). This whole thing started as nothing but a vocational project, not having any significant experience with the internet, with a couple of web pages (and a few JPEGs which may or may not have been here illegally).  I may have made a number of regrettable mistakes, exaggerating a lot of the time.

Now, I am more mature, smarter... even though I'm still using obsolete hardware.

I sincerely apologize to anyone that has been offended by any of the material - or actions - I have made, and that most of what I have said has been intended to be darkly funny (and of course, I exaggerated a lot of the time).  Although, the comments and rants about depression were exaggerated, it wasn't all a joke.  I was really unhappy, partly due to a little hypocondria over boredom ;) .  Now I am improving and growing, and any help would be appreciated, especially in the world of open sourced software (where the user need no extra penny to thrive).

Crude humor be damned...  but still occasional (a person's sense of humor shouldn't bury them).  Just hope I get enough sleep and I don't revert to my old, dull self.

The communication channels are open, however unintentionally limited.

I need to work on my poetry writin' and work on getting better equipment. 1
