Here's a tough one for you:

I've been recently captivated by a song called "The Mysterians" by Jimmy Tarbutton and the Memphis Sound.  You can hear this song on the CD "A History of Garage & Frat Bands in Memphis 1960 - 1975 Volume One" on the Shangra-La Projects label, catalog #034 (http://www.shangrilaprojects.com/).  Anyone familiar with this song?

My question is this:  Is the tune of this song borrowed from some piece of classical music.  If so, any idea as to the title and composer?
