Deke Dickerson's visits Bobby Fuller's grave
Deke Dickerson reports having visited Bobby Fuller's grave on the 40th anniversary of his death.  Here is my reply to him on the Bobby Fuller 4ever Yahoo Group:

Deke:

Thank you for your kind efforts and remarks on the 40th anniversary of the passing of Bobby Fuller.  I fear this important anniversary passed without any notice anywhere in public or the media.

Over a month ago, I sent emails about this anniversary to most major media outlets like the Associated Press, USA Today, Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, etc., hoping that some brief notice might come out on the 40th anniversary.  I also sent emails to record collecting periodicals giving them the same heads-up.  I hope that was enough advance notice.  I sure didn't see or hear anything.  I didn't get any Yahoo Alerts about Bobby Fuller this week either.

So, I think the 40th anniversary of Bobby's death was only privately remembered by fans.  In light of the very generous amount of media attention given Bobby on the anniversary of his death through the 1990s, the fact that the 40th anniversary passed without public notice may be an indication that Bobby's memory is starting to slide into obscurity.  Sad thought, but the same thing will likely happen to most musicians and other celebrities we like as generations fade.

Norton Records plan to release their "El Paso Rocks" volume 3 CD soon.  This year, I hope.

I know Bobby had only one Top 40 hit, but the records and CDs by him released especially in the 1980s and 1990s revealed him and his group to be major contributors to the very best that rock 'n' roll music has had to offer.

Apart from matters pertaining to Bobby Fuller, let me thank you again, Deke, for your musical support during this year's Ponderosa Stomp festival in Memphis.  You and your group were constantly on stage for three days backing up practically everyone.  We were there and I can say I probably had more fun there in Memphis than I will anytime anywhere this year!
