Born in Tauranga, but left so young doesn't really count as somewhere I have lived in. Reefton, on the West Coast was home for six years, a time in which my mad obsession with all things cricket began. There was never any doubt in my mind that I would become a New Zealand cricketer. If only someone (Dad for instance) had made it abundantly clear that you have to practise all the time it may have happened. Or perhaps if I wasn't so lazy.......
Moved to Methven, in the heart of Norwester country. Will never get over my hatred of wind. Walking in the rain is nothing to being outside in the wind. I have found that losing hair doesn't go well with the wind. Anyway, my parents and often me have been in Methven now 20 years. The weather is very good for cricket, and slaving away in a field roguing. Those who know what I'm talking about know what I mean.
High school meant boarding school in the really exciting and interesting town with some of the worst weather in Oamaru. The dreams of glory on the sports field were all but destroyed by the realisation that I wasn't really that good. Also found that great stress reliever and conversation starter - alcohol.
To University and spent far too long gaining undergrad degrees and generally not doing much. A great time though, with seedy green coat and daddyg fame thrown in. My ability to procrastinate was further developed, which involved a friendly visit to whoever was due one. After that, a year slaving away in the greatest supermarket on the planet (whatever) and now I'm here.
After being stuck in Dunedin, which at times is a great place to live but bloody cold as you all know, I have made it out, and are now in Brisbane, Australia. Amazingly in June I can wear jandals and shorts and not die of cold. Once I have a job i'll be able to have fun and drink and go out but until then I'm stuck doing nothing except tv and this.
