I have been involved with purebred dogs since the late 1970's when I got hooked showing dogs with my first Great Dane. I have owned and finished several different breeds over the years but fell in love with the mini wirehaired dachshunds 10 years ago.
I'm located in Manitoba just a short distance south of Winnipeg. All my dogs are kept in the house with me and are thoroughly spoiled. They do in fact all sleep in beds.
All of the older dogs in the family have completed their championships and the younger dogs are already pointed. Gibson (BPIS, MBIS, BISS Knight's Braveheart MW) was #1 mini wire in 2005 and #2 in 2006 with only local showing. He has produced a BPIS puppy in each of his first 2 litters. Two pups from his third litter have just begun their show careers. First time in the ring on their 6 month birthday, Josh won BOB and on the west coast, his sister Winnie took BOW and BPIG.
I have about 1 litter a year and the pups are hand raised in the house and well socialized. They are available to approved show or pet homes only and my males are available at stud. The pups go to their new homes vet checked, with their first shots and dewormed. They are registered with the CKC and pet puppies are sold on a non-breeding contract. I am a member in good standing of the Canadian Kennel Club.
