Hello, my name is Daniel Cardenas. That is me in the picture holding
my daughter Kachina after a basketball game. I was born on May 23,
1974, which makes me a Gemini. I was born in Sacramento,
California at the UC Davis Medical
Center. I grew up in a small town called Yolo, California and
graduated from high school in June 1991, from River
City High in West Sacramento,
California.
Immediately after graduating high school on June 13, 1991, I started
my studies at the University of California,
at Berkeley, called Cal by most people. I studied Economics
and Chicano Studies.
I enjoyed my time in Berkeley, California
were I lived for two years, in the Student
Co-op. I then moved to San Francisco,
California, which is across the bay for a couple of years.
I then worked for a couple of years and ended up going back to school
at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic
Institute, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
SIPI is an all American Indian Junior College. I stayed there for
over a year. I enjoyed my stay in Albuquerque. I would have
stayed a lot longer, but I met my future wife during the fall of 1999.
This is a picture of my wife Valaira, she is on the right, my daughter
Kachina, in the middle, and my sister in-law, Elvira, on the left.
I married my wife Valaira on December 29, 1999 in Riverton,
Wyoming. Valaira is a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe of
the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming.
My wife and I are both students at Arizona
State University in Tempe, Arizona.
Valaira is a Senior studying Justice
Studies, having transfered from Central
Wyoming College, and I am a Sophmore studying Elementary
Education.
