Backstreet in Toronto Source: AllPop
By STEPHANIE McGRATH
Toronto Backstreet Boys fans may be shocked to hear that the five pop princes are filming commercials very close by.
That's right, A.J., Nick, Brian, Howie and Kevin are shooting three commercials in the Toronto area this week in preparation for their Burger King promotional campaign.
But according to Bill Gray, Burger King's national merchandising and promotions manager, the boys won't be making any glamorous public appearances during their stay.
"They'll be here till the end of the week," Gray says. "They're here to work and they're working very hard. We didn't want anyone to know they were here but there was a leak."
Gray says the commercials will be advertising an exclusive Backstreet Boys merchandise offer that will kick off in Canada on August 28.
Starting on that date, Burger King customers will have the opportunity to buy a 45 minute fan video that features footage of the Backstreet Boys backstage and their live performances. Three interactive CDs will also be on sale.
"The three CDs will have a half an hour of new music," Gray explains, "live renditions of their best hits, a new single and a cappella versions of some of their popular songs."
The Backstreet goodies can be purchased for $4.49 (~$3 US) and the price of a Burger King value meal.
The boys are also making sure their very young fans are satisfied. During the BSB/Burger King promotion, young children will get a Backstreet Boy super hero figurine with their kid's meal.
Gray went on to say that Burger King will be sponsoring the Backstreet Boys' upcoming 50-date tour in support of their next album, expected to be released in October of this year. According to Gray, the tour will kick off later this year.

It's True: I Want It The Burger King Way
Source: Burger King Canada
Toronto, July 27, 2000 Backstreet's back in Toronto filming a series of commercials for an up and coming Burger King promotion. They'll be in town until Friday but are not scheduled to make any public appearances. According to Bill Gray of Burger King Canada, nearly a mile of downtown streets had to be closed down on Thursday to accommodate over a thousand fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the Boys while they were filming at a new and yet to be opened restaurant in downtown Toronto.
The promotion will run for 6 weeks in Canada and the USA. It starts on Monday, August 28 and ends on Sunday October 1. BK will be serving up a whopping amount of new material from the Boys including a 45 minute video and 3 CD's containing 12 songs in all. Each CD will feature the world premiere of the next BSB single entitled It's True. The promotion will target younger fans as well. Each week, Kid's Club meals will include a different interactive BSB Cyber Crusader figure made famous by Stan Lee's Backstreet Project. Something tells us that kids won't be the only ones munching on Kid's Club meals this fall.
Here's the release schedule for the promotion:
Week #1
The first week will feature an audio CD and a 45 minute video complete with live performances and backstage coverage of the Spring 2000 Into The Millennium tour. The video is entitled For The Fans and will cost $4.49 ($2.99 in the USA). When asked if this video was in any way related to the mysterious/phantom release of "Standing Room Only", Gray suggested that it was possible that "some" of the material may have originally been shot with that project in mind. CD #1 will contain the following tracks:
Larger Than Life (Live) Back To Your Heart (Live) All I Have To Give (Live) It's True (World Premiere, Studio) That's What She Said (Studio) All I Have To Give (Acapella) Week #2
CD #2 will contain the following tracks:
The One (Live) SMTMOBL (Live) Quit Play Games (Live) It's True (World Premiere, Studio) That's What She Said (Studio) All I Have To Give (Acapella) Week #3
CD #3 will contain the following tracks:
I Want It That Way (Live) Don't Want To Lose You Now (Live) Don't Want You Back (Live) It's True (World Premiere, Studio) That's What She Said (Studio) All I Have To Give (Acapella) Gray suggested to us that there will be plenty of copies to go around for everyone, saying that they had "ordered heavily this time" based on their experience with a recent and unexpectedly popular Pokemon promotion. He also told us to expect the new BSB album on October 10, a date that BMG is trying hard to keep.
BK is also sponsoring the Boys next tour which is slated to begin later this year and cover a minimum of 50 cities in the USA and Canada. They'll have 25 backstage passes to give away for each and every show, some of which will be available in online contests. Stay tuned for more info.

Peach Buzz: Back on their own street Source: Atlanta Journal Constitution
Richard L. Eldredge - Staff Tuesday, July 25, 2000
After an adventurous weekend, Tyke Littrell, 2, and his 10-month-old sister, Litty, are back home safe and sound. Tyke and Litty are Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell's cream-colored Chihuahuas.
The diminutive doggies were taken from the singer's Fulton County home Wednesday. On Sunday Littrell's fiancee, Leighanne Wallace, received a telephone tip, and she and Littrell headed for Cherokee and Pickens counties. The dogs had been split up and were being kept at separate houses. Local sheriff's departments helped retrieve both by Sunday night.
"It was so a movie," Wallace told Buzz on Monday. "There we were, standing outside while the police were inside negotiating Litty's release. Finally, the officer came out in the rain with her under his coat."
Wallace surmises that a pair of overzealous Backstreet Boys fans snatched the dogs from the couple's back yard. The parties involved have not been charged in the case.
The Chihuahuas were dehydrated and in need of their heartworm medication, but otherwise unscathed.
Littrell and Wallace, an actress, obliged a law enforcement request for an autograph and a photograph. Said Wallace: "The officer told us, 'I have this camera in the car, but I usually only get to take pictures of dead people with it. My wife will never believe this.' "
With Tyke and Litty back romping at home --- a 46-acre spread the couple recently moved into, she relocating to her hometown after a stint in L.A. and he becoming an Atlantan for the first time --- Wallace and Littrell can get back to planning their September wedding.

july, 22, 2000 Backstreet Boy Littrell Hit By Dognapping Source: MTV

Two tiny blond Chihuahuas belonging to Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell and his actress fiancée, Leighanne Wallace, have been snatched from the couple's home near Atlanta.
At press time, a spokesperson for the band confirmed that the couple's dogs, a 4 lb. male named Lil' Tyk Thomas and a 3 lb. female named Litty Leigh, were still missing.
According to Littrell, who called Atlanta radio station Star 94 on Friday morning to talk about the theft, the dogs were taken on Wednesday, apparently by two teenage girls who trespassed onto the couple's property. Littrell told the station that a "generous reward" was being offered for the dogs' safe return.
Anybody with any information with regard to the missing dogs is being asked to call Suzanne Lear or Kristi Clark at the Atlanta Police Department at 404-350-9212. (Please note that this is a toll call.)
Tyk is the canine star of the soon-to-be-released movie "Olive Juice," which features Wallace in the lead role and includes cameos from Littrell and fellow Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean. A plea for the dogs' return, along with a photo of Tyk and e-mail contacts for anyone with information about the dognapping, can be found at the movie's official Web site, www.olive-juice.com ).
The movie's producer, Nick Karvounis, told MTV News that Wallace had been playing with the dogs in the couple's yard when she was summoned away by the buzzer that signaled a visitor at the property's gate. No one was at the gate, but when Wallace returned to the yard, the dogs were gone. Later, a witness reportedly told Wallace that two teenage girls had put the canines in a car.
Littrell and Wallace moved into their Atlanta home just four months ago and are expected to marry in September. Tyk has been in the family for almost four years, while Litty was adopted last year.
As for "Olive Juice," no release date has been set as of yet. Karvounis said that the movie's soundtrack, produced by Littrell and Wallace, has now been completed, but he declined to release any further details.

*On a personal note to this I want to say whoever these cruel girls are who stole the dogs in the first place..they need to be taught a serious lesson! Just because brian and Leighanne are rich and famous doesnt mean you can just go steal their dogs wich are like their kids to them! I mean what kind of sick demented people are they? why dont they just go steal some celebs baby!!! like holy man I'd be having a fit but anywayz I hope those two are put to justace. Pandah XOX*

Victoria Held Court for the Boys Source: http://www.aftonbladet.se/noje/0007/20/victoria.html

Translated from Swedish. Date: 7/20/00

Royal fun, Backstreet Boys. Crownprincess Vistoria weren't shy when she said hello to her favourites Backstreet Boys- here Kevin, AJ and Howie- in the studio. She laughed and joked, one of the producers in the Cheironstudio says. The Crown princess secretly visited the idols in the studio

The Backstreet Boys have become purveyors to His Majesty the King. The Crownprincess secretly visited the boybands studio the day before yesterday. She stayed for three hours.

On Victoria-day, the 14th of July, entertained Electric Banana Band on Sollidens stage. The Backstreet Boys were asked but they said no. The group has been in Stockholm to record parts of their new album with producer Max Martin. Therefore they hadn’t the time to show up on the Crownprincess birthday so instead they invited her to the studio. - The band and Victoria had great time together, one of the Cheiron producers tells.

“She laughed and joked” -But not much work was done while the Princess was in the studio. She is very open and funny, and she and the band sat and laughed and joked.Outside the studio have the fans been standing almost 24 hours a day for the past three weeks the Backstreet Boys has been in Sweden.

The Crownprincess arrived with her Säpo-guards.

- Backstreet Boys travels in two black buses, so none of the fans cared when an ordinary car drove past the fence, the Cheironproducer says. The Crownprincess got to follow the recording and she was very impressed. - She hadn’t realised how much work it is behind a recording. She really liked the song we recorded when she was there. Afterwards she and the guys sat and talked and sometimes the volume got so high that Max Martin told them to keep it down.

Almost as old friends - It wasn’t stiff in any way? - No, not at all. Most people get nervous when they meet the band, but not Victoria. She had so much fun that she stayed for three hours. The Crownprincess hadn’t met the Backstreet Boys before, but it seemed as they were best friends. The Backstreet Boys left for theStates early today

How I saved the life of my Backstreet Boy Source: The Diary, Daily Record - 16 July 2000

The sext fiancee of Brian Littrell has revealed she once walked out on him in a bid to keep him alive.

Actrees Leighanne Wallace is the envy of millions of young firls after becoming engaged to the chart-topping star.

The couple plan to marry in front of 350 family and friends in September.

But the wedding would have been history if Leighanne had kept her promise to dump the singer when he twice postponed life-saving heart surgery to go on tour with the band.

Leighanne, who's 30 next month, gave Bri and ultimatium: "Have the surgery or lose me and your health", after he opted for a gruelling tour concert tour.

So she left and only came back after Brian changed his mind and agreed to have an op to repair a hole in his heart.

She said "It was really tearing me apart to know he was risking his life.

Now he's been given a second chance and it's wonderful. He has a scar across his chest which reminds him every day how lucky he is to be alive.

"But there was no way I was going to let him die, even if that meant leaving him."

She added "his first few tour dates after the surgery were scary and he had oxygen at the ready backstage, but he's doing fine now."

It was after the surgery 2 years agon that Leighanne realised she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Brian. After he came round from the op, Brian was too weak to talk, but he looked at Leighanne, who was at his side and used the sign to tell her "I Love you."

She said: "That was the sweetest thing and I knew then that he was the man for me."

She also revealed that a fan of the Backstreet Boy Star has been stalking her.

And he was trying to steal Brian's identity by adopting his bank account details and driving licence number.

Then he followed her to the Florida set of her latest movie, Olive Juice, claiming she was his fiancee.

She said "He did some crazy things. It was scary. Brian flew out to see me and this guy found out and wanted to meet me so he came round to the house that I was staying in.

"He was on the doorstep demanding I talk to him.

"After I met him I discovered he had been following Brian and me for six months.

"We told security and we are just hoping that will be the last of it."

Disco Honeymoon Source: Star magazine (July 18)

Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson and his new bride Kristin Williits spendt the first night of their honeymoon making beautiful music together - playing the bongos and dancing at a disco on the Italian island of Capri.
As these photos show, the lovebirds were filled with joy, and just like the lyrics of the band's hit song Kevin pledged All I Have to Give to Kristin. But they just had to share their happiness with others.
"Kevin and his bride wanted to have some fun on their honeymoon night," says an observer at the idland's Anema E. Core Club.
"They danced a bit to the music of the local band."
Kevin a qualified ballroom dancing instructor, had no problem whirling his new bride around the room, say sources.
"Then they decided to entertain the crowd themselves. Kevin played the bongos and sang several of the Backstreet Boys' numbers while Kristin gyrated sexily on the dance floor, wowing the audience," says the observer.
As Kevin and Kristin, both 27, partied the night away, they couldn't keep their hands off each other. Between each song, they hugged and kissed, well.....like newlyweds.
The honeymoon is a fairytale ending for the duo, who met eight years ago while working at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Kevin had a gig as a dancing Ninja Turtle, while Kristin was a Beauty and the Beast chorus girl. The lovers became engaged last Valentine's Day.
Then, last month, the couple tied the knot in Kevin's hometown of Lexington, Ky.
They said "I do" at Estill County Cathedral Domain, a church camp once run by Kevin's late father, Jerald. Kevin's brother, Tim, a local minister, presided over teh cermony.
The other four Backstreet Boys - Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, A.J. McLean and Brian Littrell - all attended the wedding.
And Brian, Kevin's cousin, will soon be making the same trip. He recently announced he will walk down the aisle with actress Leighanne Wallace.
After the ceremony, Kevin and Kristin hopped a plane to Italy and their ngiht at the romantic disco in Capri. But don't think that's all they did, say sources.
"After entertaining locals in the disco, the couple disappeared," said the source.
"They stayed behind closed dorrs for three days - presumably performing just for each other." - Leon Wagener - Star Magazine

backstreet boys (minus one) PLUS one!!!!

(7/10/00, 5 p.m. ET) - The Backstreet Boys -- minus A.J. McLean -- and Sir Elton John perfomed together at London's Party in the Park 2000 at Hyde Park on Sunday (July 9) in front of more than 100,000 people.

Group member Kevin Richardson explained from the stage why McLean was not present at the concert. "As everyone may notice we're missing one Backstreet Boy today," he said. "A.J. couldn't be with us. We don't want any rumors to get started, we're not breaking up. We're making a new album right now, but A.J. is back home in the United States. His grandfather just had very, very serious surgery, so he's back home, with his grandfather right now." Richardson then jokingly noted, "But instead of having A.J., today we have E.J.!" The remaining Backstreet Boys performed "Philadelphia Freedom" and "Friends Never Say Goodbye" from Elton John's The Road To El Dorado soundtrack with Elton John, who was an honorary Backstreet Boy for the day. Meanwhile, "E.J." joined in on the group's "I Want It That Way" and "The One" from its multiplatinum album, Millennium.

All proceeds from the one-day festival went to the Prince's Trust, the charitable organization set up by Prince Charles. Performers at the annual Capital FM concert included Steps, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, Savage Garden, Ronan Keating, and Billie Piper, among others.

July 9: BSB vs. *NSYNC Fans Basketball Game for Charity

This charity basketball game will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2000, from 12-4 pm at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Poughkeepsie is located within Dutchess County, approximately 1 hour south of Albany, and 1-1/2 hours north of NYC. Tickets are available at the door for $10.

The game is being played by teen age girls, one team fans of Backstreet Boys, the other team fans of N Sync. All proceeds are going to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The director of fundraising for the Center is Myra Grauer. She can be reached at 1-718-222-5888. We have her full support and assistance in this project.

Marist College's facility has a 2500 person capacity. They are officially cosponsoring the event. A local radio station is planning a live remote from the event. Jive records has sent promotional materials for a raffle table, 5 N Sync CD's and 5 BSB CD's. Backstreet.net is sponsoring the Backstreet teams jerseys and donating BSB merchandise for raffles. A full press release will be issued by Tony Musso to all local and area television and newspaper media.

As for the event itself, in addition to the game, there will be free fingerprinting for the children, as well as a face painting booth. There will also be a raffle table where we are planning to have N Sync and BSB merchandise available. There is a band called Unlimited coming to perform for the spectators.

Mark this Sunday on your Calendars! You don't want to miss this event.

A Note from the Organizer

This event was born around New Years. I wanted to help out the NCMEC, and John Walsh, who does America's Most Wanted, is such an inspiration. It's important for teen agers to be aware of internet safety as well as the joys of volunteering. The one thing most teens are passionate about are The Backstreet Boys and N Sync. Internet support has been phenomenal thanks to nsyncstudio.com and backstreet.net! I literally have fans coming from all over the country just to help out and support this charity, even though they are aware that neither group is scheduled to attend.

The event is being professionally video taped and a copy of this tape will be sent directly to our big supporters, as well as BSB, N Sync, and Jive. Official photographs will be taken as well. There are other things in the works right now, but cannot be confirmed. This event has grown tremendously in the past month, and I expect it to be well attended by many people.

My name is Larell McCaffrey and I am the chairperson of this event. I can be reached at 914-462-6614. My e-mail is [email protected] If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you so much for your consideration to help this event. It means a lot to all involved!
