I'VE LEARNED...

  • That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an
    elderly person.
  • That you cannot make someone love you. All you can do
is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
  • That when you're in love, it shows.
  • That no matter how much I care, some people just don't
    care back.
  • That just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!"
    makes my day.
  • That it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to
    destroy it.
  • That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the
most peaceful feelings in the world.
  • That it's not what you have in your life, but who you have
    in your life that counts.
  • That being kind is more important than being right.
  • That you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes.
After that, you'd better know something!
  • That you should never say no to a gift from a child.
  • That you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others
    can do.
  • That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the
strength to help him in some other way.
  • That you can do something in an instant that will give you
    heartache for life.
  • That no matter how serious your life requires you to be,
everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.
  • That it's taking me a long time to become the person I
    want to be.
  • That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a
    heart to understand.
  • That you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.
  • That simple walks with my father around the block, on
summer nights when I was a child, did wonders for me as
    an adult.
  • That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we
    feel.
  • That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to
the end, the faster it goes.
  • That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
  • That money doesn't buy class.
  • That regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is
at first, the passion fades, and there had better be
something else to take it's place.
  • That it's those small daily happenings that make life so
    spectacular.
  • That heroes are the people who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
  • That under everyone's hard shell, is someone who wants
    to be appreciated and loved.
  • That money is a lousy way to keep score.
  • That the Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes
    me think I can?
  • That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing
    and have the best time.
  • That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
  • That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when
you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up!
  • That when you plan to get even with someone, you are
only letting that person continue to hurt you.
  • That sometimes when I'm angry, I have the right to be
angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
  • That love, not time, heals all wounds.
  • That true friendship continues to grow, even over the
longest distance. Same goes for true love.
  • That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
  • That just because someone doesn't love you the way you
want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all
    they have.
  • That there's nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies,
and feeling their breath on your cheeks.
  • That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences
you've had, and what you've learned from them, and less to
do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
  • That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
  • That you should never tell a child their dreams are
unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating,
and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it!
  • That life is tough, but I'm tougher.
  • That your family won't always be there for you. It may
seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care
of you and teach you to trust people again. Families
    aren't always biological.
  • That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock
    elsewhere.
  • That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to
hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them
    for that.
  • That I wish I could have told my Dad that I love him one
more time before he passed away.
  • That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
  • That one should keep his words both soft and tender,
because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
  • That no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world
    doesn't stop for your grief.
  • That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
  • That our backgrounds and circumstances may have
influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we
    become.
  • That I can't choose how I feel, but I can choose what I
    do about it.
  • That we don't have to change friends if we understand
    that friends change.
  • That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but
all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing
    it.
  • That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It
    could change your life forever.
  • That it is best to give advice in only two circumstances;
when it is requested and when it is a life threatening
    situation.
  • That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent
    human being.
  • That the people you care about most in life are taken
    from you too soon.
  • That it's hard to determine where to draw the line
between being nice, and not hurting people's feelings, and
standing up for what you believe.
  • That I still have faith in people!
  • That when you say, "I love you", mean it.
  • That you should never laugh at anyone's dreams. People
who don't have dreams don't have much.
  • That you should love deeply and passionately. You might
get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
  • That when you say, "I'm sorry", look the person in the eye.
  • That you shouldn't judge people by their relatives.
  • That a true friend is someone who reaches for your hand
    and touches your heart.
  • That great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  • That when you lose, you shouldn't lose the lesson.
  • That there are three R's: Respect for self; Respect for
others; and Responsibility for all your actions!
