Biography:
An accomplished and shrewd businessman in a number of fields, Clancy McClean
sits comfortably on top of his multi-national CMC Corporation whilst also
enjoying the benefits of being a freelance journalist. Dropping out of
school early, Clancy got his big break in the field of children's clothing
manufacture. Having amassed a fortune of over a million dollars by his
eighteenth birthday, Clancy had sufficient funds to branch out on his own, and
thus the CMC Corporation was born. Originally a rival to his previous
company, the corporation gradually expanded, and by 1985 was a market leader in
childrenswear, stationery, real estate, waste management and TV
production. By the year 2000, having already made more money than could
possibly be necessary, McClean decided to venture and eventually tap into the
increasingly popular market of professional wrestling. Starting out in an
administrative role in the now defunct Ultimate Wrestling Underground, McClean
was able to really get a grasp of the business and what it was all about.
When the company eventually went under in the Fall of 2001, McClean was quickly
snapped up by the recently formed Ground Zero Wrestling 2K1 for a multi-year
on-air managerial contract. Over the next few months, Clancy would go on
to form a stable consisting of Epic Mazur, "Manic Depression" Robert
Turner, Eclipse and Dice Morgan, collectively known as "What Money Can
Buy", whilst also purchasing 51% of shares in GZW feeder promotion, Insane
Gods Of Wrestling. WMCB proved to be a big hit, earning two successive Tag
Team Championship reigns.
By the start of 2002, however, McClean had dropped completely off the public radar completely due to some "complications" involved with his divorce from his then-wife. The details of the case and Clancy's subsequent "sabbatical" aren't entirely clear, but all rumours point back to Clancy's then-right hand man and current GZW2K1 President, Seth Richards having something to do with it, as Richards would overtake Clancy as both manager of WMCB and figurehead of the CMC Corporation. McClean re-emerged in early 2004, coinciding with the reopening of the GZW, in time to secure a deal as freelance columnist for GZW's "Hotwire" magazine. Some believe that McClean accepted the position from Richards simply as a bribe to prevent him from speaking out on what may or may not have happened concerning Clancy's legal problems. Rumours currently run strife that McClean is looking to get back into the management side of the things, with the winner of this year's Neophyte Of The Year Tournament being front runner to receive the "honours".
