WHY DO I EXIST?

The Big Question

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O Mighty One, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

(Isa 64:4)

Standing at the eyepiece of an observatory’s gigantic telescope can give you the incredible feeling of the vastness of this incredible universe. Observing stars, nebulae, and entire galaxies larger even than our own Milky Way raises more than our limited view of the seemingly endless expanse of the universe. It also raises that age old question...WHY?

From the observation of an intelligent, cohesive, and orderly universe operating according to universal law scientists are grudgingly, and a growing number enthusiastically, admitting the necessity of a Creator, Who of a necessity must be eternal in nature, intelligent, and apparently has a plan. The question remains, WHY?

Although we are flesh and blood, we possess intellect and attributes of rulers as readily evidenced by our burgeoning civilization. The mess we’ve made in creating and ruling is a result of utilizing our abilities apart from the instruction of YAHWEH. His way is THE WAY that works...and it doesn’t appear that we can continue very much longer on our own before he will be forced to step in and save us from ourselves. Yet, it is because we share, in a limited way, the characteristics of YAHWEH which has brought us to impending disaster, and to the realization that we truly need His help. Like the rebellious child who gets into serious trouble and finally comes to their Father, so mankind will soon realize Who YAHWEH is, and who we really are!

OUR INCREDIBLE DESTINY

"I have said, Ye are elohim (mighty ones);

and all of you are children of the most High."

(Psa 82:6 ) Is this something new? Not really. It’s just that preconceptions, prejudices, and practices tend to cause us to overlook or dismiss things we don’t immediately understand. We simply don’t notice the obvious!

That not so noticeable reason for our existence begins in Genesis the 1st chapter. It stated that the living things, water life, bird life, and animal life were created "after his kind". But when it came to man, YAHWEH said,

"Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness".

Think about that for a moment. Don’t rush by it. All the other creatures are made ‘after their kind’, but not man. Man was NOT made after the man-kind. Now we see the great reason WHY man was created, and what "SALVATION’ is really about! We are made after HIS KIND! WE ARE MADE LIKE YAHWEH!

Is this just a metaphor? Is this a primitive attempt to aggrandize humanity? Absolutely NOT! The entire Bible and plan of Salvation rests on this great fact:

YAHWEH,

the great eternal Ruler and King of the universe

IS CREATING MORE OF HIS KIND!

FROM THE BEGINNING ... man was meant to have rulership as Psalm 8 informs us.

"O YAHWEH our Sovereign, How excellent is Thy name in all the earth. Who hast set Thy glory above the heavens.... When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, and the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?"

You may recognize this prophetic passage from Hebrews 2:6 as applied to Yahweh’Shua Messiah, but the key is in the next verse (Ps 8:5):

"For Thou hast made him a little lower than Elohim."

The Hebrew word Elohim (plural of EL) generally means mighty ones and is used most often in reference to YAHWEH, and to a lesser extent false deities or rulers, but in this single verse is mis-translated ‘angels’, thus obscuring the meaning of the verse. So, whatever man is, and the son of man, it is in purpose and connection related to ‘Elohim’. Continuing, ...

"and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands."

Here we may rightly acknowledge that the ‘works of thy hands’ refers to the works of YAHWEH himself. "Thou has put all things under his feet."

While Psalm 8 enumerates YAHWEH’S physical creation, Hebrews 2 expands our understanding.

"For in that He put ALL things in subjection under Him, He left NOTHING that is not put under Him, Heb 2:8."

In Hebrews, chapter 1 verses 2 & 3 it is explained that...

YAHWEH "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His son, Whom He hath appointed heir of ALL THINGS, by Whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding ALL THINGS by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on High."

It is very apparent that ‘ALL THINGS’ refers to His entire creation and ‘He’ is Yahweh’Shua Messiah Who has dominion or rulership over that creation. Why?

In John the first chapter we read,

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with YAHWEH, and the Word was YAHWEH.... All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made that was made."

And in Philipians,

Yahweh’Shua, "Who being in the form of YAHWEH, thought it not robbery to be equal with YAHWEH, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men." (Php 2:6-7).

And in Hebrews,

"Forasmuch as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same, that through death He might destroy him that hath the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily, He took not on Him the nature of angels; but He took on Him the seed of Abraham." (Heb 2:14-17).

Note that the Savior and Redeemer of Israel, YAHWEH, the very image of the invisible Father, emptied Himself of His inherent power and glory in becoming like His kinsmen, so that they could become like Him!

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (KJV Hebrews 2:10)
Beloved, now are we the sons of YAHWEH, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (KJV 1 John 3:2)

Can you imagine what it will be like...being just like Him? Sounds wonderful, but you are probably asking yourself, "Am I good enough to 'make it'"? The question is...

Is YAHWEH powerful enough, Loving enough, and Merciful enough to save everyone,

or will Satan be the ultimate victor through eternal death and torture?

The answer will shock you.
