This is the only time in the entire game that you will ever play as Mafuyu Hinasaki. This part is basically just a tutorial and to let you get used to the controls. Annoyingly, this entire chapter is in grainy black and white, but that'll go away once you gain control of Miku.

Entrance

Turn left as soon as the intro cutscene ends and check that side until your filament glows blue (if you don't know what the filament is, it's the thing in the bottom right corner of the screen when your camera is down, and the top center when it is up). A tip for later: blue filament usually means a hidden ghost or a clue, while orange filament usually means an attacking or vanishing ghost.

Child Behind 500 pts.

Just aim through the holes to get a clear picture.

Now that that's over with, go up the stairs and to the right. Just ignore the massive, gaping hole in the middle of the floor. You can't fall in. Trust me. I tried. Ignore the mask on the wall and pick up the blinkie (item, my sister and I call them blinkies because they blink... creative, ain't we?) for some more Type-14 film (woohoo, you have the weakest film in the game) and TUTORIAL 1. After you finish reading that, go to the right side of the room and you'll see a camera on a stand. Congrats, you've found the first save thingie. After you save, leave the room by the door on the left.

Rope Hallway

This room is annoying to walk down because if you don't know it's there, the mirror at the end can scare the living crap outta you and make you think there's a ghost sometimes. Anyways, be ready to pull your camera up fast because as you walk down the hall, the first vanishing ghost of the game will appear.

Rope Hallway Man 175 pts.

This ghost is pretty slow and appears directly in front of you, so just lift your camera and take a shot. It's pretty hard to miss him.

At the end of the hall is my Oh So Favorite Mirror! (gotta love sarcasm...) and two doors. The left door is locked, so go through the right one.

Fireplace Room

There are no blinkies or hidden items here, so start following the back wall, where all the furniture is, and prepare for another vanishing ghost.

Man Looking Down 250 pts.

As soon as you walk past the fire pit in the center of the room, this ghost will appear. Just bring your camera up and it'll aim automatically, allowing you to snap a picture of this ghost pretty easily.

Ignore the steps for now and head into the little room at the bottom of them for a hidden ghost.

Angry Man 500 pts.

Aim your camera up into the right corner above the bookshelf until the circle turns blue (you should know the drill by now) and you should get him just fine.

Head upstairs and continue along to your left. You'll see a blinkie. Go pick it up to start a cutscene. When the scene ends, you'll automatically start reading TUTORIAL 3. As soon as you finish, you'll start your first ghost battle.

Bound Man

Meet the ghost that never really goes away. He's extremely easy to defeat as long as you don't panic. Keep him in the circle as he drifts towards you. Wait for him to charge forward and your capture circle to go orange to get a Zero shot (a better shot worth more points that flings the ghost backwards as well). Two good Zero shots should kill him.

Once that's over with, continue along the balcony until you see a ghost go through the door below you. No, you can't catch this ghost. Just go back downstairs and out the door the ghost just opened.

Rope Hallway

Walk back as though you're going back to the entrance and a cutscene will begin. You've now finished the intro. Kudos!
