Queen wasn't the "heaviest" band, but none the less they influenced an incredible number of bands to come out of teh 80's. Queen was probably the first, "Glam Rock" band to exist. Freddy Mercury was the first to come on stage dressed as a women. This influenced bands with the likes of, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister and many more. The 80's were pumping out "Metal" bands that weared makeup.
Queen would make many classic songs that are still very active today, incluiding the two rock anthems, "We will rock you" and "we are the champions." No other "Queen" song would ever meet as much success as the pseudo-operatic "Bohemian rhapsody" this song was experimental and never before seen, no other song as been able to match it.
The death of Freddy Mercury would mark the rock community. Mercury died of aids at the begining of the nineties. A tribute for Freddy was held, incluiding the top bands of teh era playing "Queen" songs to this day that show was the biggest attendance ever. Freddy died as a legend.
