If you have ever owned a Baja Bug you know that they are the most fun for the buck. Don't be
fooled by the little Bug. It takes a beating like no other vehicle. They are fast, light, and
inexpensive. If you ever wanted to get into off-roading for cheap, this is your ticket.
This Baja was built from the two above. The Baja # 57 on the top was my first buggy. I
crashed it while racing down a dusty trail at night. While following the dust trail of my friend Steve,
he stopped suddenly and put his truck into reverse. Needless to say, it was too late and I found myself
under his truck. His bumper went all the way to the windshield. Believe it or not we just put on a
spare tire, switched the gas line to the back tank, and drove it the rest of the trip. Only in a VW...
One week later she was all back together better than ever. The funny thing is I bought the
yellow stock bug from a junk yard for $200, used the frame and parts I needed, then sold
the tranny and hood to a guy down the street for $300. So basically I made a 100 bucks
on the whole deal. Just a week worth of hard work for my new toy.
