"Letting Go Despite My Heart"

I'm saying goodbye for the last time,

Letting go despite my heart.

Only through an end can we

Each have our own new start.

Only through a painful change,

Can we each let go,

We are both stronger people,

For what we now know.

I hope it won't be too painful;

I hope we can leave as "friends."

I pray we can each cope,

Even as this ends.

Despite what my heart's saying,

I know this is for the best.

We should just let it go,

And let our past love rest.

If you turn around  you'll see,

The pain within my eyes,

"Oh, God, please,

Please don't let him see my cry."

Please don't see the tears,

That are streaming down my face,

I'd just like to step away,

With at least a little grace.

I have to pretend,

That I am being really strong.

I just hope that what we decide

Won't turn out to be wrong.

If you look you will see

Someone who is torn apart.

You will see the tears that are

The bleeding of my heart.
