| STUDY 2 WHY JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY All other paths are blocked! |
John 14:6 `I am the way. I am the truth. I give life. No one can come to my Father unless I take him there. What is Jesus saying here? Is he lying, is he mistaken? Is he mad? Or is he right? So is He a liar? Look at the way Jesus acts in the Bible, he did some good stuff and doesn't come across to me as a liar! Also look at what he acheived while he was walking on the earth- by our standards not a lot- he did good and all that but where's the money, the women the bling? What is the point in lying if your not gonna get anything out of it? Well then was he mad? well I'm sure people thought so but I don't! The author C S Lewis said "The discrepancy between the depth and sanity of His moral teaching and the rampant megalomania which must lie behind his theological teaching unless he is indeed God has never been satisfactorily explained." In other words If Jesus was mad the stuff He said wouldn't have sounded so true. There is too much of a gap between the good stuff he taught and the claims he made! In that case, by my reckoning he must have been right! If we're agreed that He wasn't lyiing and wasn't mad than he must have been telling the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So when he said No one can get to the Father unless I take him there it must be right! So what blocks the way of any other paths then? Well God- the Father- is so perfect He can't stand to be in the same place as anything even remotly bad. Thats stuff as small as swearing, hitting your sister as well as the big stuff. Jesus is the only guy in all religions who 1. Claims to be still alive 2. Has already taken the punishment 3. Wants to be our mate as well as our boss! Basically he hides the bad stuff in your life and gets rid! |
