How the consumer's society
oppresses women
The female's relationship with her body:
"It is profitable":
The consumer's society set standards for women through the media.
For sure it makes run the (capitalist) system which aims at immediate profit:
The most common act among females must be to buy one of these slimming or anti-ageing creams. Some, not always richer, get operated to have their fat removed or put silicone in their breast. (Don't forget any operation is dangerous). Some women are ready to everything to keep slim or thin ; they are even eating harmfull or potentially mortal pills!
They do that to correspond to an ideal image, imposed by the consumer's society, so it's alienating (since it's not originally from them).
"It keeps women fragile":
The female relationship with her body can lead to most deplorable cases:
Those females who do those hunger strikes called anorexia; it's a total negation of the body. It's a means to ask people around ; "Now (with my new body) do you still love me?" or "Would you love me however i look ?...Thin? Fat?".
Why is it so? Because the consumer's society is oppressive, it set references standards on people. Those girls must have endured (good or bad ) critics about their bodies, but in all the cases they think they are defined only by their body.
Another case it can lead women to prostitution / pornography.
Indeed, by not being self-confident in their bodies and in herself, the woman has a tendancy to belittle her body, so belittling herself.
In other words her body isn't worth, that's why it can be given to anyone( from a sexual point of view).
Very often this happens with women who are ill-at-ease with themselves.
In the end it proves that women suffer from being considered as a sexual object in this society.
The "feminity" declared natural by Patriarchy imposes models beauty models on women. It is a society mainly made BY and FOR men.
By setting these standards, it's also a means for Patriarchy to keep women dependent and fragile,
above all it is a also means to DISPOSSESS them from their bodies.
