to physical fitness and health.

10.5.6A-

National
Standards:
Standard
1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few
movement forms.
Standard 5: Demonstrates
responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
Standard 7: Understands that
physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge,
self-expression, and social interaction.
The class will be split into small groups of four to five students. This will minimize standing around, and help minimize discipline problems. Each group will go to a designated spot where equipment will be laid-out. The students in each group will need to set their own stations up. The groups will be picked before the beginning of class, and the names will be yelled out during the introduction (before the students are sent off to begin). Also, the stations will be spread apart from one another in order to help with safety. The kicking drills will be facing into a wall, so there are not balls flying around the gymnasium/field.
V.
Introduction/Warm Up
Introduction: The following lesson plan
is designed to help strengthen the manipulative skill of kicking. This will be accomplished by completing each
of the soccer stations provided.
Today, we are going to work on the
manipulative skill of kicking/passing. We will be working on kicking/passing as it is used in activities
such as soccer. We will be in small
groups, which I have already assigned, and each group will make it around to
each station at least once.
Four-Corner Warm-Up: (3-5 minutes)
Take roll while students are going through the warm up.
-Students will complete both squares 3 times.
-Half the class will go through one
square 3 times, and than switch with the other half of the class and go to the
other square.

JOG GRAPEVINE
HOP HOP RUN
Gallop
SLIDE RUN BACKWARDS
VI.
Task Development
Each station used encourages students to keep a fast pace and allows them to stay on task fairly easy. The students are in small groups, so the rotation will be much faster as compared to a whole class activity. The students will need to keep on task because they will have the person next in line depending on them to hurry through so they get a turn.
VII.
Behavioral Objectives
·
TSWBAT
demonstrate the importance of using proper techniques in order to increase
success, while in the small groups.
·
TSWBAT
demonstrate proper skill techniques when doing the skills at each station.
·
The
student will be able to identify the difference between each station and be
able to identify which skill is need in each station.
Sequence- series of actions that
leads to the desired result.
Moderate
to vigorous physical activity- movement that lasts at least 15 minutes and is fast
pace.
Manipulative
skill- a
combination of using more than one body part to complete a task (i.e.
throwing).
Grapevine- side stepping to the left
using the right foot behind the left foot, than the left foot back to the
sidestep position. Repeat
sequence. This is used during warm-up.
Dead
ball toss- using
both hands, toss the ball up in the air about 8 feet high. The ball should have no spin, and the hands
use a flick-up motion. This is used at station 4.

Lesson Outline
Divide the class into four teams of 4 -5 players. Set up the four stations listed below. Explain the task at each station, before you split the class into the groups. Allow five to seven minutes at each station. Rotate Counter Clock Wise to the next station.
1)
1
Station
1- Dribble and Shoot

All but one group member forms a line behind the marked line. The other team member goes down to the goalie area. The first student in the line dribbles in and out of the cones to move close to the goal, and then shoots the ball into the goal. Try and hit the 3 bowling pins inside the goal area. The goalie retrieve the ball, passes it to the next player in line, and goes to the end of the line. The player who just shot becomes the new goalie.

2)
Station 2- Field goal
Form a single file line 10 feet from the goal box. Put one student at the goal. Use the inside foot pass technique and try and kick the ball into the goal. The goalie retrieves the ball for the next kicker in line and goes to end of line. Kicker becomes new goalie. Pass attempts at the goal must be no more than waste high.
3)
Station 3 – Hit and Run

All but one group member (player #1) forms a semicircle. Player# 1 with the ball starts in the center behind a bowling pin. Player # 1 passes to player # 2, who passes back, trying to hit the pin. Player# 1 then passes to player#3, who tries to knock over the pin. Repeat through players# 4 and 5. After player#5 goes, player#5 takes player#1 spot in the center. Repeat until all students have been in center.

4) Station
4- Head the Ball
Form single file line. Player# 1 dead ball tosses(4) the ball up in the air and the next student in line must try and head the ball into the bin or garbage can provided. Player#1 goes to back of line, player#2 retrieves ball and tosses to next player in line, who gets a chance to head the ball into the bin, etc…
X.
Closure, Culminating Activity
Blow your whistle and stop the music. Have all the group members at each station gather up the equipment and leave it just as they found it at each spot for the next class. Gather the students into the center of the gym/field. Ask them to discuss points that might help other students that they found worked well for them. Use the following questions to help assure the standards are being met:
1. Who here thinks that if you took the activities completed today and used them to play a game of soccer, it would increase your chances of success?
2. If these drills were used for a longer period of time, does anything think it would help keep you healthy and fit?
3. When doing the passing drills, did everyone see how much easier it was to control the ball when the inside of the foot was use?
