Meier Link
A powerful member of the vampire aristocracy, Meier Link falls in love with the human woman Charlotte. After paying the Barbarois a hefty $100 million sum for protection, Meier steals Charlotte away and heads out on a journey. Closely followed by D and the Markus Brothers, Meier spends most of his journey inside his coffin, hiding from the sun. D and Meier engage in a short battle one night and D's blade makes a small gasha across Meier, Charlotte cries out to him and D is so taken aback that he falls off the cart and Meier gets away. D has called Meier a cruel murderer and claims he has performed awful things, but we really never see anything all too bad. At one point in the movie it looks like the Markus Brothers are about to secure Charlotte away from Meier. Even though its broad daylight Meier gets out of his coffin to reclaim Charlotte. Incredibly weakened by the sun, Meier is a pitiful sight to behold and stumbles slowly forward as the Markus Brothers torture him by simply watching and joking. The Barbarois do their job and rescue Charlotte from the Markus Brothers and Meier is safely returned to his coffin but badly burnt from the sun. Meier and Charlotte play to go to the city in the stars where they can both be happy. I think its amusing that Meier on several occasions is about to bite Charlotte, but refrains. My guess is that Meier intends to father a dunpeal and then ditch Charlotte. It's cool that Meier fights D with his wings, he parries D's sword with them and are his primary weapons.
