Just my thoughts
Entry for September 21, 2006

Just got started geocaching the beginning of this month. I had heard about it and thought about trying it out, but never got around to it. I stumbled upon a link to geocaching.com while doing a search about stillhouse hollow. The actual link was to a cache site called off the pier near Dana Peak park. I fish out at that area all the time and was curious so I clicked the link. The rest is history after I went to geocaching.com and saw all the caches in the area.  I thought I need to check this out. I went out to Wally World and bought a Magellan Explorist GPS cost around 117.oo This is a nice little unit simple to use and low tech (of course I'm already thinking I should have gotten one I can download to from the computer etc..)

I went out on my own that first Saturday morning to just try it out before I went to work and found two caches in Conder Park in Killeen.  The best thing that happened was that my teenage sons who I hardly ever see anymore, because they are always involved with their friends and own interests took a little interest in this gadget I had brought home. They're into video games and computers more than anything else. Even though they'd go fishing with me from time to time they aren't big on the outdoors. Well after inviting them on a few caching expeditions they took a liking to it. Especially my 18 year old who just graduated from highschool this past year.  Which was great, because I got to spend alot of quality time alone with him especially since he left the 19th to go to the Navy.
