Well for all my caching friends who might have been wondering why no logs from me in the past few weeks. I've been having a few health problems recently. This actually started back in February before I met most of you. I had a rash that broke out on my legs in February and thought it was an allergic reaction to the soap or startch used at the laundry. I had a few places on my arms too and went to see my doctor. He informed me it looked like Impetigo which is a bacterial skin infection. After months of suffering with blisters on my arms and legs that would get a little better and then flare back up and no relief from the antibiotics. The week after my last cache run on the 5th my entire legs and arms became covered in new blisters. The doctors finally discovered they were wrong and there was no bacteria after all. Turns out I have a somewhat rare condition called Linear Immunoglobulin A disease. They don't know the exact cause of it, but the way I understand it my immune system for some reason had decided that my skin cells were harmful and was trying to attack them. It usually occurs as a result of taking certain drugs primarily Vancomycin. Since I didn't have any medications prior to my condtion they don't know what triggered it. I did do a little research and read that there were several cases of people getting this from contact to detergents with sodium hypochloride. So my initial belief that it was the laundry might have been correct.
I'm now getting the right medication and seem to be heeling up pretty well. I've been going to work, but I have to wrap up like a mummy practically to keep my clothes from hurting my skin. It's been taking a lot of strength and concentration just to make it through the entire day. The weekends I have been so worn out I haven't done anything except stay home and wear as little as possible. Which has been driving me crazy. I'm having withdrawls from not geocaching.
I'm actually getting ready to go out with my father-in law to try and find a few geocaches today. I don't know how I'll do. The medication for my illness actually lowers my red blood cell count. Which means less oxygen to the blood and means getting tired easily. Won't be a power cache run for sure. Might get lucky to find a few.
