I am a national of Nepal engaged in the research and development of livestock resources of Nepal, Philippines and Canada for the last two decades.

  Past Research Activities:

In the past, my major research work related to estimation of genetic parameters of reproductive traits in pigs of exotic breeds (the first genetic analysis work of this kind in any livestock species in Nepal), and evaluation of indigenous animal genetic resources in Nepal and the Philippines.

In the recent past (up until December 1998), I was working as a Doctor of Veterinary  Medicine and  Animal Science Researcher at Lumle Agricultural Research Station of Nepal Agricultural Research Council, where my research activities were focused primarily on characterization of indigenous water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and their performance comparison with various blood levels of Indian Murrah breed. Other works included performance comparison of local and crossbred dairy cattle, karyotyping of domestic animals, crossbreeding of Himalayan breed Baruwal sheep with exotic Border Leicester breed.

I am currently  pursuing graduate studies for a Ph.D. degree in Animal Genetics in the Department of Animal Science, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada.

Current Research Interest:

Genetic association between growth and reproductive efficiency in cattle- studies using quantitative methods and molecular genetic markers.

Academic Advisor: Dr. Gary H. Crow, Department of Animal Science, University of Manitoba.
