"There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a gentleness of spirit and a pure serenity of Mind." -Washington Irving
I think the above quote says a great deal about going out on the stream. I know its my haven. I know I think of nothing else except the fish, the water and the sound of nature around me. When your out as much as I am you see others as well enjoying the outdoors and the great fisheries of New York...and you wonder...no, you know that not everybody looks at it the way you do. To each his own I guess. But some of the abuse I have seen and ok, ok once participated in (wink wink) have made me a better and more conscience angler. Its mother nature, the more we abuse it the faster it just may diminish.
"Fishing: The Art of casting, trolling, jigging, or spinning while freezing, sweating, swatting, or swearing." - Henery Beard and Roy McKie
I'm assuming niether on of these fellows has ever fell in a trout stream in the middle of January!?! Or they just may have included "swimming". And for that matter, how about in the early spring, 3 times, in less than an hour, AND STILL FISH ?!?! Caution and patients comes with fishing, its been proven on plenty of our trips.. |
