| Deliverance from Sin and Sickness Once we accept Christ as our savior our spirit is set free of Satan, however, we still need to break Satan's grip on our mind, will, and emotions. Jesus said in Mark 16:15-17, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons ... they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." To be delivered from demons causing sickness in our lives, and/or affecting our mind, will and emotions, we need to first accept Jesus as our savior, second repent and ask forgiveness of our sins and those of our ancestors (to break generational curses; see Exodus 20:5 & 34:7, Leviticus 26:40, Numbers 14:18, Deuteronomy 5:9 and 23:2, Nehemiah 9:1-2, and 2 Chronicles 29:1-11 and 34:19-21), and then third forgive everyone who has ever wronged us (to be freed from tormenting spirits, Matthew 18:32). Also, we should break all Biblical curses (there are over 60!) on us by applying Galations 3:13 and the shed blood of Jesus. This is necessary to weaken the bondage that allows Satan to maintain a foothold in our lives through demonic influence. Even more importantly is the in-filling of the Holy Spirit so that we might not be overpowered by sin anymore. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that "God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear." He also said in James 4:7 to "Resist the Devil and he will flee from you." He said in Philippians 2:12 to "... continue to work out your 'salvation' (alternatively translated 'deliverance'*) with fear and trembling." Essentially this deliverance (of your mind, will, and emotions) to be worked out results from Bible study, prayer, praise, Christian fellowship, and the direct casting out of demons. To cast out demons (Matthew 10:8, Luke 10:19, and Acts 8:7) just persistently and repeatedly command them by name (one at a time) to leave the named victim, go where Jesus sends them, and never return. Command them out in the "Name of Jesus Christ." Also bind Satan, bind the demons from defending themselves, and command angels to drive them out (see Hebrews 1:14, 1 Peter 3:22, and Eph. 2:6). The demons will manifest and come out in numerous ways including screaming, shrieking, coughing, yawning, moaning, shaking, thrashing, and burping. If they resist coming out ask the Lord to send his hornets to attack them (Exodus 23:28). If they still resist, have the captive physically reach out in faith visualizing touching and calling on Jesus for deliverance (note Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 6:18). Be sure to bind them from transferring into those doing the casting out (note Mark 16:18 about picking up serpents). Be sure to place the (protective) blood of Jesus over those doing the casting out. *Note - The Greek word 'soteria,' which we translate 'salvation,' also has the meanings 'deliverance,' 'health,' 'rescue,' and 'safety' (Thayer's Lexicon).
