Alcohol.  The word that can send a chill up a parent's back, as every year countless teens become hooked on these substances, leaving their lives, often times, in shambles.  Most parents want to believe that addiction only happens to other people's children, not their own. Unfortunately, addiction is blind and cuts across cultures, ages and economic status.  Many times parent's claim they didn't know the signs to look for.  How many of you have found alcohol in a school bag or hidden in a cupboard?  When confronted the child's response is "I'm holding it for a friend." Have you ever thought that your child's eyes looked funny or that they were acting strangely? What was their explanation?  One of the things parents tend to do is not trust their instincts. Sometimes facing the truth is a painful proposition. Parents need to learn to trust themselves and what they see going on with their children. You may just save their lives.
