“LUKE!” Dalton yelp between giggles as his mother tickled him.
“Hey little man, did you need some help?” Luke asked sitting down on the floor just out of reach with a playful grin.
“YES!!!” The toddler squealed thrashing around in attempts to free himself from his mothers tickling grasp. Luke sat back and watched is best friend play with her son. They’d been best friend for going on 9 years. They’d met back in grade 8 when a mutual hate for their Geography teacher Mr. Thread had driven them and a mutual friend to skip geography weekly. And the two had gone through everything together, from late night cramming for exams, to happy graduations, and the messy break-up in which Lucy had gone through her last year of High school, and the birth of Dalton had only brought them closer.
En extremely giggly shriek brought Luke crashing back into reality and a huge grin split his face. Seeing Lucy let up slightly on the tickling Luke seized his chance, scooping Dalton up in his arms and up to his face to blow a wet raspberry on his stomach. Putting he giggling boy back down Luke grinned at Lucy.
“So what do we owe this visit to sir Lucas?” Lucy asked in mock salute as she righted the chair someone had overturned in their play.
“What? Am I not allowed to just come visit my best friend with no reason anymore?” Luke asked in mock hurt, splaying his hand over the left side of his chest as if to grip his heart.
“Normally you have a reason, that’s all” Lucy answer rolling her eyes at his antics.
“Luke, sing.” Dalton said from around the corner. Apparently whatever he’d been doing when his mother interrupted had either ended or was no longer amusing, and Luke’s singing was.
“Okaaayyyy, what do you want me to sing bud?” Luke asked seating himself on the floor against the fridge to face Dalton who sat in the door way of the kitchen.
“The Go-Go song!” the little boys answered clapping his hands. Glancing at Lucy, Luke started.
Watching Dalton dance around the kitchen, Luke reached out and gripped the tiny hands in his own and began to dance along on his knees as he continued.
Pausing to take in a big breath Luke continued. Grinning at the thought of the last time he’d sung this song in particular. It had been about a week ago and he’d been at a local club, with his other close friend Dan and Ryan as they did their Bi-weekly gig.
Rising up on his feet as Dalton danced off on his own, Luke wrapped his arms around a stock still Lucy, getting her to join in the fun.
Dancing about the room Luke finish of the song with the last verse and the chorus again before collapsing on the floor laughing with Daltons head resting on his chest. Sometimes he wondered why Daltons father had been such a jerk, and why he couldn’t replace him for good.
Gazing out the window as the large bud rumbled down the strip of highway JC blankly watched the many tree’s blur together. Glancing up as Justin came stumbling out of the back JC returned to his activity when Justin merrily flopped down on the couch and began to doze.
“Hey Jace, man, you shouldn’t beat yourself up over it so much man. She was a two cent whore and you finally saw her fore it, unfortunately she was in your bed” Justin muttered, knowing exactly why JC was stuck in such a trance. The had made a stop over in LA a couple of nights ago and Jace had decided to stop by his small LA apartment he had bought for when they were up their recording, to collect some dirty clothes he’d left up their only to find his so called ‘girlfriend’ Samantha going at it from some drunken bastard from who knows where. Even though he knew that she was never loyal to begin with it still hurt, and he couldn’t seem to get his bad luck with women off his mind.
He’d had 4 cheating girlfriends in 5 months. He couldn’t seem to find someone who he could settle down with and trust. He was feeling left out. Joey and Kelly were getting along well and Joey wasn’t looking for a girlfriend, he rather take care of his daughter. Chris was become close friend with his ex Dani but he didn’t want to start another relationship with anyone and was perfectly content. Justin was in a pretty comfortable relationship with a old friend Steph and Lance, well Lance is in a quickly escalating relationship with a close friend from Mississippi. With the other four so happy felt like a failure. Maybe he wasn’t met to be happy.
