| Position bandages under the legs -Thread four or five bandages under legs at ankles, at lower legs, and at thighs -Do not thread bandage at injury site. |
| Put rolled blanket or pillow between the legs and move unijured leg next to injured leg. |
| Tie the ends to secure injured limb to unijured limb -Tie ends of each bandage together with knots on unijured leg -Check to see that bandages are snug but not too tight -If more than 1 finger fits under bandages, tighten bandages -Use a figure-8 bandage to support the foot. |

| Apply the splint -Leave footwear in place (sock or shoe) -Thread three bandages: one each at heal, under ankle, and under lower leg. -Fold or wrap blanket or pillow gently around ankle. |
| Secure the splint in place -Secure blanket or pillow around ankle and lower leg Tie third bandage around foot, from heel to front of ankle. If more than1 finger fits under bages, tihten bandages. |
