Fractured Collarbone (Clavical)
Applying a tubular sling
Position the arm and triangular bandage
-Put the forearm of the injured side across the chest, fingers pointing toward opposite shoulder.
-Position the triangular bandage.
-Place an open triangular bandage over the forearm and hand.
-The point of the bandage should extend past the elbow and shoulder.
Support the forearm and ease the bandage under the hand, forearm and elbow.
Carry the lower end around the back and tie the ends
-Adjust the height of the sling gently.
-Tie the ends together in the hollow of the neck on the unijured side.
-Tuck the point in between the forearm and the bandage.
-Pad between the arm and the body, in the natural hollows, with soft, firm material.
Secure the bandage
-Tie a broad bandage from the elbow on the injured side across the body making sure the bandage is firmly in position
-The pull of the broad bandage shuold be directed to the rear to keep the fractured bone ends separated.
