Well 2002 has been a big one for me. So many things have happened (some bad but many very good) to make it memorable indeed.

2002 was one of massive life changes. I completed my commerce degree, finishing not in the sunny Australian National University in Canberra, but the ever so chilly climate of Toronto. It saw the sad, unfortunate end of a great 4 year relationship. I moved out of my house at 31 Boobialla Street, a house that could only be described as having character! I went through the cut-throat and gruelling process of graduate job hunting, landing one with the promise of a decent start to my career (but also signalling the imminent demise of my days of sleeping in). I finished working for Writer's Bookcase, a wonderful job that offered flexible hours and a chance to actually give input into the running of a business.
In July I jumped on a plane to experience wonderous new places like Turkey, The Greek Islands and The Rockies, making countless new friends along the way. I walked for 130 kilomteres over 6 days through green fields and past cows, sheep and their assorted manure in the Yorkshire Dales. I wound up in Toronto, settling down for a 4 month period of relaxed study and continuous social intercourse. I lived with people that said 'abooot' instead of 'about' and asked me what part of England I hailed from (??). I saw live Baseball, Canadian Football and Basketball (witnessing Michael Jordan score a paltry career low of 2 points).
I spent (or more correctly trickled away) most of my hard earned savings and loans. Then at the worst possible time the remaining money was stolen by credit card thieves. But my bank showed rare ingenuity when it took on the burden of the loss just 2 weeks later. I experienced the pain of walking into the wind when the air temperature was a cool minus 10 degrees and the snow was piled high. I danced the night away in a French night club in Montreal for my birthday, with friends that I hadn't known existed just 3 months previous.
I skinny dipped in a Turkish bath and I belly danced to 200 people at a folk dance (netting a crop of $1 bills). I was in a bus crash, got ripped off by a taxi, missed a ferry and experienced the worst plane turbulence ever in my life. I swam into the sunset on a secluded Greek beach, walked on a glacier in Canada, paid my respects to war veterans in Gallipoli and drank a Guiness in Dublin. Then I finished the year off with a much dreamed of white christmas, feasting on a turkey that was as big as a man.
As with the year 1998, 2002 was a year dominated by travel. And as with 1998, I have come out of it with little money, just memories. But it has been all worth it and I can't wait to travel again! Here are some of the photographs from my trip. I hope you enjoy.

Oh yeah........and I shook Bill Clinton's hand outside a carpet shop in Istanbul.
