Merry Mayhem Tour
I have to admit, this one is now up there with The Who and Tom Petty as one of the best concerts I've been to. On a 1 to 10 scale, this one scored a solid 8.567254.
The bands?? Soil, Mudvayne, Rob Zombie, and Ozzy Osbourne himself.
Soil wasn't too bad, I like Halo and when they did Breaking Me Down, they turned me onto a new good song by them. I really liked how they played it. Mudvayne's one of the bands I like, so I was glad to see them, had a few nice 'speeches' like I usually hear when they play. Both these bands had some sound problems I think, the bass seemed too loud compared to the vocals. This is what kept it from becoming a 9 instead of a 8.567254.
Rob Zombie, man what a stage show. Me and my buds were thinking that ol' Ozzy couldn't outdo his props and what not. He had the usual dancing girls, screens, and some other cool stuff as well including about 5 'demons' (ever see the 3rd ghost in 'Scrooged'? something like that) on stage, one scary lookin robot, and also a bigger figure with a head from a Rob Zombie drawing. When he played his new song 'House of 1000 Corpses' he put clips of the movie on the screen. I wish Universal weren't such arseholes and would have let him put the movie out. I NEED TO SEE IT. If you don't know about it, first slap yourself in the head violently and then head over to the webpage to look at the film written and directed by Rob Zombie is all about.
Ozzy had his spoofs of things onscreen like usual, if you haven't been to Ozzfest you probably don't know what I'm talking about. Your loss. Some of these clips included Ozzy being Miss Cleo a few times, good stuff, Ozzy being the driver from a Maddona video, and I believe another Brittany spoof. All hilarious. During these we got to see Ozzy, covered with a sheet and surrounded by guards, make his way to his sled that he went to stage on. We were about twenty feet from the Ozzman himself. So sweet. Played a good range of songs, including Road to Nowhere, my favorite. He had a few different background going while he was playing, the best probably being a Santa Claus burning on a crucifix. Y'know that sounds really bad written down, but it was all in good fun.
After the show, got a whole bunch of demo CDs, stickers, and a magazine. Good stuff. An all around pretty great show.
