Letters to the editor

New magazine praised for its scope

To the editor:

Congratulations on the printing of your first issue. It is evident that all of you have put in many hours of work. The writing shows sound critical thinking and demonstrates good journalistic skills. There are many positive things happening at Smith and many good students. You have shown that we can put our good foot forward and be recognized for positive contributions to our city and its culture. It is especially admirable that you accomplished this first issue as an extracurricular acitivity -- that is beyond the normal classroom hours. I hope that others will join you in your efforts and WordSmith will expand in coverage and demand.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Melissa Harrelson,

Assistant Principal

Reader enjoys variety

To the Editor:

I am impressed! Congratulations on an excellent first issue of Smith High School's new magazine. You have worked very hard to produce an attractive and interesting publication.

WordSmith contains something for everyone. You inform, discuss, entertain and advise. The topics reflect the diverse interests of our school community. Columns are thought-provoking. I like the combination of news, opinion and creative writing.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading the next edition of WordSmith.

Research paid off

To the Editor:

This is just a short E-mail addressed to the WordSmith staff.

You are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn the 'ropes' from someone as talented and experienced as Mr. Bulla seems to be.

It also appears that you many of did the research and put in the hard work required to turn out a top- notch publication. Felicitations!

Keep it up. I look forward to the next issue.

Norman W. Tuttle,

French Department
