WELCOME TO DIPAK BHUDIA’S WEBSITE

Do you want to experience virtual reality on the net? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

I have designed and built a virtual temple using Virtual Reality Modelling Language (VRML) that allows all users to experience the wonderful dynamic interactive scene.

The virtual temple is developed with relation to the Shree Swaminarayan Temple (Willesden, North West London).  With their assistance, I was able to use the images taken from Willesden Temple and apply them to the virtual scene.  I wanted to include as much realistic detail as possible and, at the same time, reduce disk space for efficient transmission to the client system (especially 56k users).  Notepad was used to build all the objects.  The overall file size is roughly 530k.

INSTRUCTIONS

Please, bare in mind, in order to view the Shree Swaminarayan Temple virtually, a ‘plug-in’ is required.  This is a small program that configures your browser (Netscape or Explorer) so that it recognises VRML files.  You will only need to install this once.  Cortona is the recommended plug-in.  If you have Cosmo Player plug-in, the temple will not be viewed correctly, so read below.

If you cant understand the following five instructions, god help me.

1)                  Click on the following link http://www.parallelgraphics.com/products/cortona/

2)                  Now click on the link mentioning ‘Install Cortona VRML Client 4.1 ’. It will start detecting your browser.

3)                  Once you’re on that page, click on ‘Install Now!  Plug-in will start to download automatically, so be patient and wait for a minute or two.

4)                  At some point a dialogue box will appear, so click on ‘Yes’ On the setup options dialogue box, click on ‘Ok’, and do not change default settings.

5)                  A rotating 3D blue box will appear on your browser, meaning downloading is complete and it has configured your browser to view VRML files.  Sorted.

!!!You don’t need to download this again!!!

Click me to display the virtual Shree Swaminarayan Temple (Willesden).  If you’ve already visited Willesden Temple, you will instantly recognise similar characteristics with the one I have built.  If you haven’t been to Willesden Temple, don’t worry, here is your chance to envisage it virtually!

·         See if you can notice the animations.

·         Try clicking a few images near the shrine area and see what happens.
