I -The Juggler- The earlier title for The Magician was The Juggler, and at the point of drawing this deck I was unaware of this secondary title. The novel artistic approach of white on black, secretly encodes in color the position of The Magician as the letter Beth on the Tree of Life.  For Beth as the 12th  path connects the first sephirah Kether the crown (which is white) with the third sephirah Binah (which is black). The Juggler's arms form the spiral shape of the primum mobile, and the bent body of the Hebrew letter Aleph found in the Marseilles version of the Tarot.  The four balls that he juggles in the air are both the four elements and the four worlds of the Hebrew Qabalah. This is traditionally symbolized in the wand, cup, sword, and pentacle placed upon the table of the Magician.
